Phasmophobia Ghost Tier List – After Playing for 1000 Hours

Welcome to the Phasmophobia Ghost Tier List! In this video I rank all 14 ghosts in Phasmophobia from least to most difficult and dangerous. We also had everyone watching the stream vote on their rankings! Sometimes these were quite different from my opinion! I fully stand behind this list, I fully explained all my pro’s and cons for each of the ghosts as well as some deeper, hidden mechanics that you might not have known about! Let me know what you think, do you agree with my tier list? What would you change and why?
Much love and see you during the streams 😀

  1. I'll agree with both your tier-list and Vorst's comment, except that the fear I have for banshees and revs is the same, since my luck is not good. I've seen the banshee power way too much and it's an absolute S tier in my book. I mean, I've had banshees bully me way too much, some by teleporting to me and insta-killing me by starting a hunt on the spot or by hunting me right as I'm coming inside a place. They have the power and the possibility to f*ck with you and to f you very bad, even if they ain't using it a lot. That and overpowered Yurei. Sometimes I wish I recorded my games with the amount of weird shit I've had.

  2. As a multiplayer only player and someone who tries to keep sanity high and avoid danger when possible I’d put a much different order… the main threats being

Demon, Yokai, Banshee and revenant as being the main threats… Yokai mainly because team communication is incredibly difficult and the others for their aggressive behavior and speed, shades being an honorable mention for just being annoying though easy to figure out with its shyness

  3. I've had Jinn's move way faster than a revenant in high school, like 4 times faster than a player, and seen them move that fast on camera. If you've ever been hunted by a Jinn without knowing what type of ghost it is, it is almost certain death if caught in the hallway

  4. Not going to lie man, you're probably the most genuine personality on YouTube. Have tuned in to a few live streams and just love the way you go about it. Keep doing what you're doing and so excited to watch your journey on the way forward! Much love.

  5. polter is actually on of the strongest ghosts imo, it can drain your sanity in a matter of seconds if in the right place and in my expierience, every polter i have encountered was a wandering and really aggresive ghost

  6. Honestly I would B or A tier the rev depending on whether it is a smaller or large map w/ other players. Just keep an eye on your sanity and don’t get hunted. I don’t get hunted by ghosts anymore unless a demon catches me off guard.

  7. The Jinn's ability of draining player sanity also needs the breaker to be on, hence why it is so rare, most people don't even bother turning it on depending on the map along with the fact that whenever people find out it's a Jinn, they immediately turn the breaker off, even though it's really not that necessary, you also need to be within 3-5m (this is not very well documented and/or datamined) of the ghost for this ability to work, from my testing, if you have an small room like the Tanglewood utility/laundry room and the breaker is ON, I've found that they do use this ability quite frequently but it's an major non factor most of the time since you don't usually stand still in the ghost's room like an idiot, especially since Jinn is not an fingerprints ghost, so people just want to either find a board or leave as soon as possible.

If you want to test yourself to see this ability with your own eyes, I recommend the setup of candle + small room and breaker on, if you get an event, immediately go back to the truck, check sanity, events should not drain more than 20% of sanity, the Jinn ability can drain up to 30-35% (not very well documented), small Bathrooms also work but the increased roaming might prevent the ghost from being sufficiently near you to use the ability.

Psycho also has an video where he got his sanity down to 18~20% and by some quick math the only explanation would be the ability, check it out when you have the time:
    watch?v=Aq2q66ErFaQ

If you made it this far, sorry for the long text, anyway, in my opinion I believe DK should buff this ability, along with the Yurei's new one, they are both so INCREDIBLY rare to witness.

Have a good weekend Insym and everyone!

Also another Edit: The Jinn's speed ability during hunts is an ACTIVE ability, not passive, the ghost has to use it while witnessing an player, they are not capable of using this ability while there is no players in sight and sometimes they may not use it at all during an entire hunt, it's not that big of an deal people make it out to be. The 2.6 value in speed is only seen on maps with long straight hallways (Asylum, School) since the ghost has to be an considerable distance in order to reach that speed while Revenants will get their 3.0 speed value IMMEDIATELY whenever they have sight on an player, I seriously have no idea how people down play Revs so much, they are more than deadly on open areas or large rooms.

  8. I don't know if you'll believe me, but the phantom does have a ghost power: it can choose a random player, mark where they are, and walk all the way there (not teleport). You can easily test this for yourself if you're interested. Once you get a phantom during one of your games, you can try doing this:
    – Lower yourself at 0% sanity. Sanity is inversely correlated with chance to get ghost activity, ghost events and activating ghost powers.
    – Wait far away from the ghost room. I'd recommend a different floor if possible: all ghosts have a power to teleport a short distance from where they are to where you are, usually to do ghost events.
    – Put sensors near to where you are waiting, but in a way that you can see them activating so you know when the ghost's coming.
    – Wait. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes tops.

Playing solo probably makes it easier, since I don't know if it will attempt to target players in the van and thus take longer for you to see. Best regards!
EDIT: By the way, this power is probably what got you killed in this video: https://youtu.be/uH3khgVOm3Y?t=700

  9. 22:43 I'm pretty sure Psycho documented (accidentally) the Jinn's sanity drain ability. As you said, it was so rare he dedicated that video's title entirely to it, and made an intro on which he talks about something amazing he had discovered.

  10. Not only does the rev do all of the things mentioned but whenever you do get one if you’re a newer player, certain objectives become so much harder like the ones that need hunts or maybe even the ghost photo if it doesn’t do any events.

  11. I dunno if it's just in my gameplays (it might be, but I really don't know for sure), but I think that, in one of the last patches where yurei gained an ability, they changed a little the Spirit. Why I'm telling that? I was playing a reasonable amount of matches and I found the scenario: Spirit Box, Ghost Writing and frequent hunts (almost 1 hunt each 15-35 secs). Me and my party, not looking for fingerprints due to the excess of hunts, guessed wrong Demon when the ghost was a Spirit. I think that, above the sanity threshold, the spirit are with an increased hunt release rate. Dunno if I'm wrong and it's just coincidence, but I want to relate that this is happening. Did this happened with someone else?

  12. I definitely consider Demon S tier. They may be extremely quick to figure out but once you know (if you figure it out without the ouiji board) the other objectives become extremely difficult. And on larger maps, especially on professional, it can get into hunting range before you even find it, you may be able to take pills, but it takes no time at all to be back in hunting range. It’s also the quickest to get to chain hunting. It’s a pain in prison anyway. I also have a vendetta against Hantus but only cause they have gotten me many times by turning off the breaker and then immediately hunt when I’m in bad positions and I end up cornered, they would definitely get A tier if their speed was boosted

  13. Couldn't agree more! Since the only way to lose in the game is by being caught by the ghost, I think speed and proximity are the most important factors to look into when determining the extent of danger. Some people state Jinn still, but I think that's solely to be unique in opinion or mayybe playstyle? I don't know but I just can't really see it. Great video! :3

  14. I completely agree with your list. I don’t struggle with any of the ghosts, and I also agree that Jinn’s are extremely overrated.

Also also, I still am at only 1 death at around 500 hours.

My one death was very early on in my playtime from a Banshee that instantly hunted when I entered the house and I didn’t notice the hunt at first until I had walked past the ghost upstairs and had the brilliant idea to turn my flashlight on which caused it to notice me and then I got stuck on a nightstand which got me killed.

Since then, I’ve only ever been close to dying a few times and most were from revs.

  15. Have played this game a lot (currently level 1410) and love Phasmo. Really enjoy InSym vids, and generally agree with the tier list of ghosts he did. Couple of things though, he even said that one of the biggest deciding factors for how dangerous a ghost can be, is when they catch you out of position on a hunt. Wraith's have used their teleport ability to hunt me so many times, and yes quite a few times, I am caught out of position, in my opinion they have to be rated higher than a 'C' tier. Also Yokei whilst can be dangerous (especially in multi player) I play 90% of games solo, where I don't need to speak much, which downgrades Yokei to be much weaker than an 'A' tier. Would I get that tickle of sweat and my heart beating quicker against Rev or Jinn… absolutely….against a Demon chain hunting…that is more frustrating than scary….against a Yokei in solo play….meh, they hold no fear or much threat for me

  16. Revenant and jinn are s for me because jinn drains my sanity fast and just be like
In hunt I’m fast as #### boi in the entire building jinn and revenant are very dangerous in high school and asylum if they catch you in the long corridor

  17. My opinion in multiplayer I got a mare In ridgeview and mare was not much a threat for me but in another match I had a mare in high school and it was aggressive but mare is a threat on big maps

  18. in my experience, banshee in multiplayer have a chance to spawn near the target because of that it will catch you off guard. maybe for my opinion it's A tier

  19. There is no diff between ghost. I mean ghost only have diff evidences. Model is randomized (kid, crawler, grandma with sickle etc) on the beginning of map. Sad that models doesn't match type of ghosts.

  20. I spat out my drink when he said "Turning off the breaker makes your Jinn into a *BITCH*" with a voice crack. Why was that so funny

Also quick edit: Vs a Jinn on a large map you dont even need to cross the map to get to it, just flip a bunch of light switches to overload it and clap the breaker that way

  21. I just think about a type of ghost that faster if your sanity lower
And a ghost with hunt you at very low sanity but when is hunt is will very long and you can't hide from it you can only run

  22. My normal Phasmophobia run:
    1. Go in.
    2. Get evidence.
    3. Figure out how to deal with the ghost.
    4. Get photos and complete objectives.

My Phasmophobia run with a Revenant:
    1. Go in.
    2. Get evidence.
    3. Realise that it’s a rev.
    4. Panic.
    5.
    6. Creep in and hastily do objectives.
    7. Get hunted.
    8.
    9. Hide and pray.
    10. FUCKING RUN.
    11. Leave.

  23. Wow, a hyper aggressive Shade has been the most dangerous ghost I've ever encountered. It literally has killed one of our pair every time. Super quiet, evidence scarce and ghost events you to hunting. Then won't stop hunting on repeat. I fear the aggressive shade.

  24. I suppose on small maps wraiths arent a problem since you can almost always get to somewhere to hide before they actively hunt.
On big maps though if Wraiths teleport and hunt you, you could be in a spot with nowhere to hide or run to, leading to certain death. Had wraiths hunt me 3 times at school entrance now and I am getting scared leaving that way now.
Wraiths on small maps c tier, wraiths on big maps A/S tier in my opinion.

  25. I had a Yokai in the bathroom on willow street house, and it broke all of our crucifix charges in 30 seconds, then hunted after that. My group can be pretty talkative, and the bane of our existence is the Yokai. High A tier for me.

  26. Buff Hantus, Yokais, Wraiths. Please
    How:-
Hantu: Make it a revenant in the cold, even without line of sight. Will make it a hard ghost. Also to counteract it, make it as slow as a rev without LOS on you when its hot.

Yokai: Make them hunt trash talkers. They should be abke to hunt normally if you shout and are below 80% sanity. They could just catch you off guard and become stronger like that.

Wraiths: Make it such that Wraiths can phaze through walls and furniture, such that you cant loop a wraith at any cost. Maybe giving them LOS through walls will be a bit too OP, but giving them the power to not have to open doors or just move from one room to another without having to go through the path which other ghosts would take would make it a really hard ghost. Like you would have to go to a closet or stay far away from a wraith to survive. To counteract this, maybe make wraiths such that they immediately stop hunts if they step on salt and that salt also act like walmart smudge sticks.

Only ReV sitting in S tier doesnt feel good. If these buffs are made all of these ghosts will be much harder.
