They Are Changing EVERY SINGLE MAP in Phasmophobia!

In this video I want to talk about a SUPER IMPORTANT poll that the developers of Pahsmophobia asked the community! They are planning to rework every map including a HUGE CHANGE to asylum. It seems that they are probably going to cut Asylum in half. I’m a bit mixed on these changes (especially shrinking the Asylum). But overall I think this will be a great change for phasmophobia. What do you think? Let me know! Much love and see you during the streams 😀

  1. optimizing the game would be the first thing to do i guess. it has performance issues on mid tier system. it didnt before. i used to play it on my laptop here and there and now its almost unplayable

  2. Since people are throwing map ideas out there, I’ll throw my idea I’ve had for ages here.

Abandoned carnival. Think broken down funhouse, creepy old rides that are just sitting there out of use. GHOST CLOWNS! Partially outside, partially inside with the funhouse.

Was questionable prior to the campsite map but now it sounds really doable. I WANNA SEE IT!

  3. I don't like the idea of shrinking Asylum. I get it that most people never play Asylum because its huge, but these people also don't play large maps in general, so I doubt they would play Asylum even after its half the size. I like the current Asylum because of the challenge, you really have to pay attention and work hard to find the ghost, you usually won't find it straight away like in other maps. So even if I don't play Asylum that much, I play it when I really want to challenge myself. Having it halved means finding the ghost will be much easier, and that tension at the start of the game where you're trying to hear for clues or find something out of position somewhere will be gone. I hope they implement an option to play the old Asylum after they change it.

  4. They should just simple allow for larger maps to remain their size but in the menu you can choose different sizes! I have always wanted this. Make it where asylum could be even be a small map for two or medium for three and don't stop just there, modify the small maps to each time pick from one of however many pre cut up chunks of the map taken from the large map. I don't know if they could code it to randomly combine a couple areas for the medium but even if not then just have a rotation of medium and small maps being picked randomly from the larger maps! That way I can enjoy all the dev's hard work by playing it more often on the different size maps.

Regarding the rework, as long as they just change the template for new settings and not removing hiding spots and such. Having everything reworked does make the game seem all new.

  5. Honestly while the idea of all these reworks it fantastic in it of itself, and I do love the ability as a host to choose what map you choose to go on. I think it'd be cool to choose what map you go on for the tutorial practice that way maps, ghost, and how certain functions on maps work. It'd be especially cool to have the ability to explore all of that after these reworks! Like, the amount of ghostly studying that can be done and with the reworks I can only dream of what kind of cool mechanical reworks that could be put into the new maps. Would wanna be able to explore them all over again!

  6. I have a bad feeling that by end of the early access they have polished away all the personality of this game. Kinda a common problem with many indie projects that they start with something good and then ruin it by overdoing things and then wonder why they don't succeed anymore to reach players.

  7. I thought it would be a great idea to have 2 or 3 wings in asylum randomly blocked off. That way the map is always a little different each time you play but it stays pretty big. Could also be tied to difficulty now.

  8. I'd love to see a little more "chaotic" ghost actions. Adding to the rare events like the red room and the lights bursting, something like rarely out of the blue having a TV come crashing down with a really loud noise, a faucet burst (and task the player with finding things to repair it to stop the noise), etc.

  9. wops, massive wall of text…TL;DR: as long as they don't halve the map but just make the wings smaller (so cut off around 1/3rd of it at most), I think asylum would keep the same feeling and benefits, while making it more manageable and fun to play for most peeps.

to be fair, asylum being big has its benefits, mostly for testing mechanics (I presume) but lets imagine that they actually just halve the side-wings, ATM there's 2 hallways in each wing, with 4 pathways linking them. making these wings half as big, so only have 2 linking pathways, would turn each wing in a bit more of a square. if they still leaving the size of the rest more or less unchanged you'd only lose about a third of the map. meaning there's still a lot of room to work with. still a lot of long straight hallways to test stuff, as well as having enough corners to round for LoS breaking.

losing that 1/3rd of asylum would make it a more manageable and more conventionally playable map, while still having it as one of the biggest maps out there. even if they'd cut of 1 wing, it would still be a big map. but I think i'd prefer them to just halve each wing. but I guess that's just personal preference.
thing is, the argument of using it for testing mechanics shouldn't really be seen as this massive argument against making the map smaller, since there's still other maps like highschool and prison that are useable for this, and losing a third of asylum would still have it be one of the biggest maps and it would still be useable as a testing ground, as well as making it less of a PITA to play regularly.

I think most peeps don't like to play it since it just takes ages to find the ghost (unless you get lucky) and if you have the bad luck of the ghost room being one of the furthest rooms you have to go on these long treks to bring in the gear and get everything set up. not to mention having the ghost change rooms to the complete other side of the map. that would mean going to look for the damn thing again and then moving all your stuff. say what you want, but that's just bad gameplay, you want to interact with and research the ghost, not be a glorified moving company. nobody is playing phasmo for the 'fun of dragging 2-3 items around the map and dropping them in a room' but if you get unlucky in asylum, that's what you'll be doing for 90% of the game.
not to mention that due to the time it takes to find the ghost and move your stuff, you're liable to have lost enough sanity to get hunted and die before coming close to the damn ghost room xP

  10. I would like if they leave the option to play on the original versions of the maps. All of the original maps, especially tanglewood, are super iconic in the community and I would definitely still want to play the original version sometimes. I am totally for more improvements and additions to the game, and I understand that this game is far from done and a lot will change. I think that’s a good thing, if you look at all the changes that have happened so far everything is positive. I don’t think anyone can argue that the game currently is much better than it was when it was first available, so if they can keep making good changes and additions then the game will only get better. I just hope they keep the same feel to the game and some of the stuff that gives it character like the derpy character movement and stuff. I’m hyped for the future of this game!

  11. For the first and second poll (smaller asylym and themed houses) I think it would be cool to be able to toggle between an original version (The ones we have currently) and a themed/smaller version. Maybe the themed maps would make the game slightly more difficult somehow (removing hiding spots, reducing throwable items, combining rooms to make them larger etc), so they would be unlocked as you level up, similar to the higher difficulties already in the game. Asylum could be the opposite, new one unlocks first and original unlocks later.
That would make it so that old players could keep the sentimental value they may or may not hold for the current maps, while also doubling the amount of maps without even having to make them entirely from scratch, PLUS adding an additional difficulty factor (If the themed houses are indeed more difficult)

  12. Bigger maps would be nice to have more than one ghost. If the ghost is on the second floor they will almost never engage on the first floor. But insanity at 0 would not be fun with more than 1.
