There are some changes to the crucifix! First and foremost, the crucifix now has a visual change that happens when a hunt is successfully prevented. One crucifix arm will disappear, followed by the other arm when it prevents a second hunt. After two hunts per crucifix, it will no longer stop the ghost from hunting.

Another change is that now the crucifix will cause a 5 second delay in between hunts, meaning the ghost cannot use all of the crucifixes uses at once!

The Crucifix is used a preventative of a hunt! It cannot be held while the ghost is hunting to not die. It also must be placed properly on the ground!

When a ghost is haunting a bigger room, it is best to try and use other equipment in order to use the crucifixes correctly! Try to use motion and sound sensors, as well as the Spirit Box and Video Camera when available!

  2. You can hold the crucifix but you need to be within 3 meters of where the ghost starts hunting (5 meters for banshee). You'll see the arm break off in your hand. I've done it more than once. The problem is, a ghost can start a hunt anywhere in its room. Which means you might not be close enough and a hunt won't always start from the exact same spot. Some ghosts like wraith and banshee often start hunting near a player instead of their room too.
