the click to scan feature is the only reason i don't use the t2/3 thermometer and changing it to click to hold still isn't going to make me use them. it's an irritating concept to click anything other then to turn it on. making the t1 temp bounce regardless if its the ghost room or not, is still way better an option then clicking or holding for a reading. just means i have to stand in a room for a little longer then before. maybe t2 is click to get a reading, but t3 should benefit from both t1/2 so a consistent reading without needing to hold any other buttons, and faster readings then t2.
They didnt address how spirit box wasnt properly addressed. It never mentions that you needed to turn the lights off to get a response
I like a few things, But I also hate a lot of these changes.
1 – Tier one thermo should be untouched, It is already hard enough for new players to find the ghost room to begin with, so why nerf it and make it even harder for new players to find said rooms
2 – Making upgrading tiers more expensive. I am level 70 right now and I have like 5k in my bank is it is, Gotta realize not every stays alive all the time and or people tend to lose their stuff a lot
3 – Ghost photo not counting with a full book is ridiculous, Its hard enough with random as it is as they're running around taking photos no stop of absolutely nothing and now we have to worry about getting a ghost photo before we get a full book?
Things I do like,
Changing the XO per level will be nice. I got close to 100 hours on professional and am only at level 70, At this rate it makes us people who are medicore at the game not wanna prestige bc of how long it takes so this is nice
I like the UV stick being moved to tier 2 instead of being nerfed. As it is my much preferred UV item as it is pretty bright, and isn't electronic so I can hold it during hunts to get to my hiding spots.
Tier 3 thermo getting a buff is nice all tho holding the button will still be a pain, Why not just have it turn on and have it read out Temps every second or so?
Lastly I do like that prestige is getting more benefits like character customization etc etc, Wish they'd ass a feature to where you can permanently unlock a item tho, that'd be worth prestige a little more
Leveling is fine for me but I have played a ton. I have at least 200+ hours on the new big update. Started playing shortly before the big update.
I always play on nightmare and always have wayyyyyyyy too much money for any upgrade, so I think it's a good change.
I never ran out of money, so I’m a Pro, right 🤩😁😂
I don’t think leveling is too slow, I think there is too much of a difference between the low xp game difficulties and the high xp game difficulties. It creates a couple of problems, the big two in my opinion being that people playing on easy game modes never level up, and people are too incentivized to turn on un-fun modifiers (slow running, no sprint, no cursed objects, etc) because it gives you such a huge boost. The huge difference in xp/income really just encourages players to play in ways they don’t consider to be as fun, be it un-fun modifiers or playing at difficulties above their skill level. I’m not arguing for the game to not give more money for more difficulty, but there should be more money at the low end to balance things between the two groups.
I also think that we should re-think how upgrade paths work. As it stands we have base equipment kind of terrible, and it gets better as you level up. I get the logic, but I think it should be reversed. The T1 stuff should be the best in the game *at getting the evidence*. Then as you upgrade, the equipment should be potentially less effective at getting evidence, but have more nuanced uses for things other than evidence. So like thermo for example. Let’s say they keep the thermometer we have now, but holding it raises the temps so you have to set it down for an accurate reading, but it’s 100% accurate. It’s the best in game for getting a freezing reading, but it sucks for identifying the ghost room. T2 could have some randomness, and only works while held down, but gives a live reading instantly, so it’s better at identifying the ghosts room. T3 could just be a box that gives a reading at the van, with 100% accuracy and live updates, even as held. Each tier is best in a certain loadout, for a certain playstyle. Beginners get access to the best evidence gathering tool, because beginners should be encouraged to learn how to gather evidence. More experienced players get more nuanced tools, because they should be learning to think past just gathering three evidences. Even things that have strictly linear progression now could work to interact with other equipment. Spirit boxes could upgrade to not require being held, and sound sensors could work both ways to allow players to not need to be in the room and get readings, or they could just upgrade to automatically ask questions every twenty seconds or so so that a parabolic mic user could monitor several rooms to try to see where the ghost is. The book could start at “long range, high chance at interaction” and move towards “low range, saying the ghosts name can force the writing”, or maybe “lower range, but keeping nearby candles boosts it”. Higher tier tools could help gather non-evidence clues to identify ghosts. Those two way sound sensors could be a way to get the ghost to move between two points to help gauge its move speed. Higher tier candles could raise the room temp to see how ghosts react in higher temperature rooms. Beginners are learning how to strictly gather evidence, and intermediate players learn how to not need to rely on evidence.
Why do they hate people being able to tell if they have freezing or not?
I enjoy the game changes or no, I would just love new Ghosts and some new maps like a mortuary and a gas station 😊
I like to say that not everyone prestige's so they can redo the entire game over again , that is true for almost every game. There are people who just want to show off how much they actually played the game. So the sum of money or the xp choice are really good for the people that don't want to restart everything but still want to show there time on display.
The extra money when prestiging could just be instantly dumped on that prestige's new customizations after they're implemented.
I feel like they should shuffle around the thermos. By that, I mean that the tier 1 and tier 2 should be the ones where you have to actively keep clicking and getting a temp (which is super annoying) and tier 3 can be the passive one. I hated working to get the tier 3 and it’s just tier 2 but in a different shell.
Head Gear 2nd Point: So you can immediately see the difference between hunts and ghost events 🤔

T3 UV should be like one of those moth trap lamps where you can still place and throw it like the glowstick, but it stays on until turned off manually and maybe gets a better range
NNOOOO. THE THERMOMETER NOOOOO
The Thermo T1 .. noooo but no surprise in the nerf ^^ also the stinky t2 uv light now becomes t1.. nooo
So I’m just not going to use thermo for evidence then? Randomness is NOT how a thermometer works, it’s a fucking thermometer MAKE IT READ ACCURATE TEMPERATURES
some people want to get the prestige ranks without the hassle of level 1, it does make a lot of sense to at least give the option.
I would say that the Tier 1 Thermo should show a warmer temperature as long as it is held in the Hand (because a hand is warm, and the Thermo will pick that up) so for a good reading you have to place the thermo in the room you want to measure
Instead of having to hold the thermo button, i think it would be best for it to stay scanning as long as it is in your hand, and if you swap away and back to the thermo, you have to push the button again.
The money+XP boost on prestige is 100% for the lower-skilled players who would like to prestige (for achievements, or for badge/player card) but have a really hard time with T1 items and getting the ball rolling in those first few levels. There should definitely be a third option for more skilled players (maybe you can bring one item with you, like COD used to have, or something idk).
i love the xp or money boost personally, especially with the added equipment choice mechanic. the LEAST enjoyable part of prestiging is the first few levels until you unlock better equipment (like smudges and sanity meds). while i'm not terribly bad at the game (i die roughly 1 in 5 games on nightmare and have all 3 apocalypse trophies), i do have the most fun during the middle levels. so being able to skip a few early levels OR buy more of the equipment i WANT as it becomes available is incredible! that said, there should be a skip option at the very least for those like insym who don't like the money or xp boost.
I play on the easier levels, still have plenty of money for every upgrade.
I haven't unlocked t2 dots yet. Normally, what I do is take both t1 dots, place them is a cross,
The option for xp boosts would be better if they allowed players with levels over the prestige amount to flood over the next level. I personally don’t like starting over with bad gear and would personally save my xp to go over to level 90 if that was an option to skip it all or better yet go all the way to prestige 20 from 3 and have that be an option because for players that do enjoy the challenge already has the option to switch between tier items where as the grind to get them needs way more time put in. This allows players to be more generous with a hefty bank and provide newer users that play with them a better experience overall.
Something for graphics I'd like to see them do for PC players is render distance options. I see visible lines and things rendering in all the time and its very distracting tbh. My pc is beefy, I'd like that option. Even lower end systems probs would like that option even if it needs to lower other graphics. Pop ins are always distraction.
IMO, to protect new players from running out of money and not being able to unlock anything, they should keep no-prestige as is (or close to) but increase the unlock price per prestige.
The levelling felt atrocious. Me and my friends searched for a save editor cuz we couldn't even bother with so much grind
The problem with making the t1 thermo inaccurate is, this isnt how mercury thermometers work. Laser thermos can seem inaccurate because one time youll be aiming at a metallic surface and the next time at a wooden surface, so the thermo will give different readings, however a mercury thermometer is relying on the temperature of the air in the room. The only way the temperature naturally changes inside the same room is depending on how close to a heat source you are
The change that makes way more sense imo is to make it so that either :
A) the t1 thermo doesnt show temperature fluctuations while held by a player
Or
B) add a 5-10 second delay between you entering a room and when the temperature starts moving
I would like to see some things added to the cursed possessions, e.g. the Voodoo doll, I think it would be a good idea to allow you to revive a friend with it, if you push the pins until all but the heart is left then a dead friend will come back to life, this would add a high risk high reward factor to it like the monkey paw
The leveling system is perfect, I like that it takes a while before getting to all the good stuff so that when you get it its even more rewarding
I'm personally fine with the salt the way it is. Maybe it's a bit cheese, but me and the group I play with are low level and can't play for long. And only on limited days, maybe once or twice a week. Having something to make up for some lost time xp wise is honestly kind of nice. We can see where it's moving at the time, potentially get UV and gain a few extra bucks. Is it an exploit? Yeah, sure. Does it ruin anyone's experience? No, but it's nice to get that little bit extra, especially when the ghosts are being sheisty and we hunt for 20 minutes out of the hour we get to play just to struggle to get the 3rd evidence and guess wrong after someone dies.
A powerful prestige incentive could be that you can unlock an upgrade like 1 extra inventory slot. Not like you could get unlimited inventory slots, but that you can purchase the upgrade once or maybe twice.
Since it would be really powerful, I do think it's something for after prestiging several times (like prestige 5).
I do like the mentioned nerfs and buffs mentioned here and think the T3 thermo could actually overtake the T1 thermo with this. Excited to see the new changes in action!
Not sure, but i think the "bonus money" only gives you the cash, not the exp the cash would give you… like you can start with a 10% exp boost at lvl1… or 1000$ extra at lvl 1…. not get 1000 and start at lvl 10… but idk its not out yet
As far as i can tell, the money-problem isn't just a top player problem, but also a problem of multiplayer, where you can lower the costs of dying by circling through multiple peoples inventory or in case of one good player being part of the group, allowing the less experienced ones to die without consequences (like i have a full setup always on auto-fill in MP and don't die myself most of the time). I don't really see, how that can be solved though without punishing solo players too hard, so i guess we've to always live with some sort of compromise.
I literally just bought this game a couple days ago and it seems like the company makes a lot of changes based on this whole prestige system but I just don’t understand how this game has been in early access for years and the settings menu does not have a good way for me to configure my audio devices. I have games that are 20 years old with a better system of configuring which headphone or microphone I use than this game
