I've tried one but it was already fixed, so i died
Bleasdale Farmhouse attic staircase also works as safespot, Prison A and B Block stairs as well but you have to really stay like in the middle part of it to make that work so it isn't exactly fool-proof
I don't use them. It's just cheating the game since they're not intended. I like the scary aspect of the game as it's meant to be for myself.

Just a warning, the high school stairs is not 100% safe. I brought all my friends there with a revenant. It was a crawly ghost that just kinda snuck in and killed one of us.

Ah yes the ghosts certainly scratch their heads when they see the humans stare at them from these safe spots!

There is a safe spot in one of the rooms up stairs in high school with the partly fallen book shelf. Ghost cannot get in. Can even wedge your self further in the back for extra security, but sometimes you get stuck.
