You Should NEVER Do This on the New Update – Phasmophobia

Welcome back to Phasmophobia! In this video we see just how hard the nerf to the custom difficulty truly was. We do this by playing on the absolutely HARDEST difficulty in the game, the 24x difficulty. Let’s see how much money you make on the new update for completing this absolutely insane challenge. ENJOY!

  1. I was thinking to myself when I saw the update that 50% would be the max. I really love custom difficulty as I can do a nightmare + combo run and it was super rewarding to challenge myself. Anyway, looking forward to what Kinetic Games does moving forward 🙏 Thanks Insym

  2. It makes the challenges absolutely not worth it. But also hard to gather resources for. With how much coordination you need, it's nigh impossible to do it alone now, and not even worth it.

I think it just hurts everyone that isn't you or Psycho or Nuzzgard but even YOU GUYS are having a hard time being able to afford equipment now.

  3. If they knew it wasn't ideal why the heck did they even do that? A lot of new players can't even buy fancier equipment like thermo or smudge sticks, why make the experience even worse for them? Especially with how punishing death is in Phasmo. This game doesn't have PvP or even leaderboards for the money to matter, so why change the system? I still can't get why they locked the friendly ghost option behind custom difficulty, now I wonder why they even made custom difficulty if they didn't want us to enjoy it. What is this strange mindset that the player needs to suffer? Wasn't the main idea of the game to get spooked and investigate the ghost?

  4. I really don't get why devs take the game so seriously or competetive. What I mean is they try to prevent cheating, fix all the exploits and bugs even if they're fun (e.g. the ones that allowed for no-key runs), add balance changes such as this one, etc. It kinda limits the ways you can play the game and I feel like it limits the fun too.

  5. I hate that they've done this to the rewards system. I liked playing a custom difficulty between Professional and Nightmare. It was a comfy 3.5x multiplier with a healthy challenge. Now I might as well just turn off "Lose items on death" because the risk is not worth it. It has kinda soured the game for me. The risk-reward has NEVER been worth it, given how much you stand to lose, so this is insane in my opinion.

  6. I find it stupid especially if you make it as hard as possible you literally get nothing as a bonus. It should make it so some of the custom settings change the mulitplier to x1.5 if it makes the game harder while it could have x0.75 mulitpliers for easier customs added.

  7. i think custom mode as creative mode but instead of phasmophobia its fun and also lets you do stuff that you cant in the main lobbys
what if they do events and missions on pree set modes when coustom can be what ever (so it would be more worth to grind quests for money on clasic would be more worth and leels dont count on custom)
    but mabey thats just me

  8. i mean realistically levels don't mean anything in this game after you unlock everything, it's just a flex point. having more money only makes it more enjoyable for players, because no one enjoys having to pay like 1k every time you lose all your stuff, while you make barely anything back from normal games. it's not a competitive game, there's no ranks, there's no reason to prevent people from wanting to get more money saved up. you should be able to play games in ways that make them fun for yourself. preventing your player base from having fun doesn't seem like the best solution. being able to hoard money and levels doesn't hurt anyone or affect anyone

  9. One of the worst parts of Phasmo is being new and being stuck without money. I really dislike the idea of any money nerfs being enforced on the player as dying with equipment is already a large punishment.

When you already need to play 3-4 perfect games on Nightmare to make up for 1 full equipment loss, the devs should not be nerfing money at all. Nerfing experience is fine- getting 100 levels per hour was obnoxious. I'm not sure why money has to be tied in with that nerf when they're two completely different reward concepts tho.

  10. I think the proper solution to this is cutting custom games by 50%.

    Why 50?

Because they literally added the investigation bonus to make people identify the ghost, and that doubles your money… So that means if you don't get the ghost, you don't get the reward of your custom difficulty but doesn't punish people for playing the game properly and getting the ghost, etc

  11. Honestly then nerfing the custom difficulty just assured that I don't wanna come back and play the game again. I played a long time ago when the game was easier and I just play for fun, I'm not trying to be the best. But I just lose over and over again and never have money. But when you showed off custom difficulty I was thinking of coming back and basically relearning the game again. I could make my own difficulties and just go back to having fun again. Now with this update I no longer want to come back because I'll just continue suffering with no money. It's sad.

  12. What the devs should have done instead of a percentage reduction for all games is just put a cap on Money and experience based on the difficulty modifier. For example if they capped the game at $50 per level of difficulty then you could still earn $1200 from a max difficulty. It's a lot. Also why are they so worried about exploiters anyway. Every game has exploiters who wanna break the game to feel good about themselves. Just let them break the game and be rich. It's their loss in the end because they exploited their way through a game that is almost completely about atmosphere. Phasmo is supposed to be about immersion. If you take that away to exploit then that's the players loss.

  13. For me a good option would be if the objectives would contribute to the total rewards. For example: We have 4 objectives (one of them being "Identify the correct ghost type"). If you complete 1/4, you get 25% reward, if you complete 2/4, you get 50%, 3/4 will give you 75% and all four completed will give 100%. That way no one could cheese the game with only bone and ghost photo.

  14. I completely disagree with this change.

They should make it so getting ALL objectives done gives an extra 2x multiplier. And then make it so getting 10 3-star photos gives an extra 2x multiplier as well.

Frankly I just want them to put in a preset No Evidence challenge mode.
