EVEN MORE Thermometer Nerfs – v0.25.1 Phasmophobia Patch notes



It seems like the developer really hates the thermometer hahaha. The last patch made the thermo accidentally quite strong. This patch addresses every aspect that made the thermo stronger to turn the original patch into a proper nerf. It seems the intention is to not use the thermo as a brainless scanning tool but instead use it as a secondary way to confirm the location of the ghost.

The patch notes for v0.24.1 and v0.25.1 in #phasmophobia:
Fixes
1. Fixed a bug where the outside temperature was changing with the power.
2. Fixed a bug where you could use sanity pills infinitely when the truck was closed.
3. Professional Difficulty: Fixed a bug where the ghosts room would sometimes start at maximum temperature.

Changes
1. Removed the temperature objective due to the temperature changes.
2. Each room will now lower and raise their temperature at slightly different speeds.
3. Lowered the speed that temperature raises in rooms once the power is on.
4. Lowered the speed that the ghost lowers the temperature in it’s room.
5. Freezing temperature ghosts will now reduce the room temperature at the same speed as other ghosts. This means that when the power is off, all rooms including the ghost room will drop at a similar speed.

New
1. Added a delay for closing the truck door once it has been opened to prevent trolling.

  1. Would be amazing if parabolic mic actually let you hear sounds or even whispers/ghostly voices coming from a certain direction, it would definitely ramp up the usefulness and creep factor imo

  2. I do not like these changes. I never play asylum because it takes way too long to find the ghost room. Now every map is going to be a pain in the ass. I do not enjoy trying to find the room for 30 minutes wasting all my time. Just remove freezing temperatures as evidence. This is making the game so much more annoying. I think I am done playing this game most of the new updates just make the game more and more time consuming and frustrating.

  3. Tbf, it seems more realistic now with the use of the thermometer. Which i like.
    Another thing i like is the randomness, which also makes the game more replayable.

  4. Listening is fine, but it's not exactly reliable if the ghost is a wanderer- i.e., thumps its feet next to you/ appears as apparition/ etc. in a different room. I've been encountering a lot more ghosts that follow me around the house as I'm checking through the rooms, and that's a lot more disturbing… and more the way it probably should be. Ghosts aren't typically room-fetishists. Even a back bedroom Shade has pulled the lights-off-slam-the-front-door-right-in-front-of-you trick in Grafton/Bleasdale. But this just makes the Thermo nerf that much more frustrating since then the tools the game gives us aren't reliable. I think the dev just thinks his game is too easy and is starting to meddle with mechanics to make it less straightforward… at least for the Insyms and Ventexxs out there… Would be good to have a dramatically different "Professional" mode.

  5. best change yet to come:
    make the ghost change it's ghost room randomly between a fixed set of 3-4 randomly chosen rooms per level every few minutes!
    one of the three rooms could already be disclosed in the startup message: "there are other areas but we've had reports of activity in the kitchen" to make it a bit more approachable. 😉 easy addition (code-wise) and extremely positive consequences for the gameplay; more searching, more time in the house, splitting up teams, making every item count, more hunts… 😉 what do you think @Insym ?

  6. An infrared camera could be nice. Where items the ghost touch changes temperature and the footprints as long as there's a difference between what was touched and the ghost, and it would disappear as the temperature of what was touched goes back to room temp with room temp display. If those are like the the current tripod cameras you could set them in different rooms and monitor the temperatures of several rooms are once at the cost of setting them up, getting and keeping the breaker on and going to the van (or having a friend there). Would be helpful on larger maps. Just a thought for a new item. What could be also nice is plate breaking and glass shattering. Footstep should attract the ghost, like we can track it. Stepping in debris on the ground could make noise that could attract the ghost from further in big maps such as prison where if it's hunt in top cells of block A and you're safe if you're not there to look anywhere for the board and bone is kind of defeating the purpose/spookiness of a hunt. So you make walking quieter and running louder. Idk more ways for the ghost to find you is always more fun and challenging.

  7. I think they should add another level to this. They should make it so you can only find freezing temps when the breaker/heating is off. So when breaker is on heating the house the ghost room can not go below a normal ghost room. You will have to turn off the breaker to see if the room drops to freezing.

  8. I feel like thermo's probably in about the right spot now, really.

    I mean, you dont really need it on the small maps, half the time the ghost will literally just open the door for you and tell you what it is. I like the concept of the dev trying to push people to be more interactive with other equipment on the small maps, and less dependent on thermo giving it all up in the actual first 60 seconds of the game. Thermo was meant for the larger maps, and now I feel like even though it feels a bit backwards (instead of looking for the room that dropped in temp, you turn on the breaker and look for the one that *didnt raise*) that its in a pretty good place.

  9. I think the dev need to add more detailed feature.
    For example
    1. Ghost move fast and slow randomly during hunt. And the frequency is random too.

    2. Add breakable object or hazard object that would decrease sanity or decrease player health

    3. Add limited stamina bar so you can run but stamina bar change according to some factors

    4. Add sighting mechanism or blinking mechanism like game from SCP foundations.

    5. Add mind distruption mechanism
    6. Add head camera.
    7. Add forest map.

    Another idea :
    1. Add bleeding dmg overtime. Or broken hand or leg.
    2.add illusion object or environment
    3. Randomized space or area. Not just fixed map.
    4. Can use dual hand.
    5. Specific object which cause mental or mind attack

  10. Is it like only for beta? Like, can i still play older version or it updates for everyone? Bc my intrest in phasmophobia went from 100% to 60% due to all of these changes… i liked the simplicity of the game… like some of these things added or removed are nice but some i think are unnecesary… its just my opinion…

If the dev wants to make the game real, fuck with you hard, you should start to get false positives of anomalous noises, movements, readings as your sanity degrades to make the stat a bit more important. Basically you start to get more and more paranoid and start to imagine things or the ghost sense this and fucks with you more, really put some doubt in your mind as to which it is, like a real ghost hunt would be like. Could balance it out a bit by letting it recover slowly in light or more quickly at the trailer.

  12. I kind of wish when the ghost was pulling on the closet door you are holding, you are put into a minigame,
    could be anything like clicking fast, lead your cursor through a maze, click the right corresponding keys or like DBD with timed clicking.

While I agree with most of what the patch notes states, I do think that we on the other hand, should have a much more robust sanity and the ghost should interact more with us/things, so that we can spend more time inside the house at a time without loosing much of our sanity. Conversely, we could be given the option to regain our sanity slowly while being in the light. Another option would be the ability to turn on all the lights, without the breaker shutting down, meaning that the breaker would now only be ghost trolling.
    Personally, the reason why I do speedy runs, just like your describe, is because we can loose our sanity pretty fast and get hunted and while hunting should be a part of the game, it turns it more into a survival game than a ghost hunting game.
    Another option is to give us a thermocam, that can track the ghost visually, like a cold blob inside the room. So that you can set up two or three cams and then find the ghost movement patterns that way.
