  1. Came a bit late, but just wanted to comment that Braveheart is not a very good movie in terms of historical accuracy. Those big two-handed swords started being a thing in the renaissance, and in Scotland it was mostly in the 1500s and 1600s, while the movie is supposed to be late 1200s. The Scottish in that time were early adopters of pike tactics.

    And can confirm: welsh were famous for their longbows, probably before the englsih adopted them in mass. Also, fan fact, early medieval (6th-10th century) Wales conserved more of the brtitano-roman culture than the English did, while also having a lot of the previous Celtic culture present..
