So the way the crucifix works, is you have to place it down where they spawn from. When you do that, it prevents them from hunting only 2 times.
You have to do this before they hunt you. If you throw it while they are hunting you, it will not work.
You got to play IT in vr

You need to get sanity low then they will hunt , in order to get crucifix to work it can just be on the floor as long as it's the route it takes like by the door of it's room

The reason a person dying from the spirit … That event does not reduce what kind of specter it could be … all of them have the ability to murder death kill. So I agree that a bonus should be given from the event, but otherwise it does not help the hunter / investigator.
Watching GE miss use the crucifix is so painful. It PREVENTS hunts, not stops them while hunting. You need to place the crucifix on the ground before it starts hunting. As soon as the ghost is hunting, the crucifix is useless.

Umm sometimes you have to complete the contract and then it counts as an objective. Especially with the crucifix
