How Smart are the new Ghosts Really? – New Phasmophobia Update



In this video I test how smart the new ghost AI in Phasmophobia actually is! If you want to know anything about the new patch you can find it here!

Needless to say it is not perfect yet, but I really love the recent updates to Phasmophobia and the speed at which they have been added! I hope these few bugs won’t discourage the developer from experimenting more! Because I truly love this game and think more and faster updates are perfect! This video concerns beta patch v.0.22 and v0.21.1. Main Changes in #phasmophobia:
1. The Ghost will now walk to your last known location when it has lost sight of you when hunting. This means the Ghost will now follow you around corners.
– This has been further improved in v0.22
2. The ghost will now listen to the player during their hunting phase and inspect locations where it hears the player.
3. Added a button to select the contract difficulty rather than it being random.
4. You can now place Candles similar to the Ghost Writing Book in Non-VR.
5. The breaker now always starts “off” on professional difficulty.
6. Professional Difficulty: You will no longer be told if the Ghost responds to groups or if you are alone.
– The text on the whiteboard is now more clear in v0.22

  1. I think a nice addiction would be more different hunt behaviors in a way that actually forces you to change tactics. I have been playing for a while and basically the hunt surviving strategies are always the same. That's why playing a revenant is so exciting, it's actually the only ghost that forces you to change tactics. I would love a ghost that looks for people in closets, of randomly spawns around players or in completely random locations. Different hunt behaviors would actually make proves collection more important in the mid game, especially in big maps where they can be slow.

  2. I was telling all my friends "Oh man they made the ghosts smarter, that trick with the closet you were doing? Doesn't work anymore. Don't try it." Oh well. I just won't tell them now, let them think they have more to be afraid of…

  3. LOL dude this is kinda depressing. You were so hyped during the stream thinking the game would be MUCH harder now, except its basically the same as before. I don't know if the ghosts just can't open these closets, it seems bugged, on the other hand they'll try to open every single door they come across. Like I was playing a game yesterday on Asylum and I could make the ghost lose track of me just by opening one of the corridor doors and getting behind them, as soon as the ghost got to the door he would try to open it, but it was already opened all the way so he just got stuck.
    Hiding in rooms is definitely more dangerous though, I've died in one of the farmhouses yesterday cause the ghost picked up noise on my mic and came straight into the room I was hiding and killed me. Good to see the dev is improving the AI, I hope it gets even smarter and harder in the future

  4. Love your channel! I watch you play when I can't. Quick question – I don't have the ability to manually change map difficulty like that, did that come with an update or is that part of a beta you are trying out?
