How the NEW EMF 5 works in Phasmophobia! – LVL 2449

*CHECK PINNED COMMENT* This video shows you how you can still use the activity chart to obtain EMF 5 in Phasmophobia! I absolutely love the way it works right now, first of all it looks way cleaner but it’s also a much more active tool to use, rather than just knowing EMF 5 immediately upon looking at the graph you now have to know what caused the spike (by being in the house) to figure out if it could be emf 5. According to DK this is fine so it will most likely remain possible to read EMF 5 from the graph, it will just be much more skillful than before. Hope you enjoy (and understood) this explanation! Much love and see you during the streams! 😀

This is also in the pinned comment:
TL;DR if you see a high spike for a minor event you know it’s probably EMF 5, this will remain true on the next patches to come.
Full story: This video misses one thing: It’s not true that emf 4 and 5 give always give a reading of 3 on the graph. Instead the activity chart actually shows every EMF event with a random -1 or 0 value subtracted from the true value.
Luckily this doesn’t change much about what I explained in the video, it still works the same way: if you see a 3 or 4 for an event that can have at max 1-2 activity you know it’s EMF 5. ALSO: I had a short chat with DK and he is fine with this being possible, however it is going to slightly change in the next patch, it’s going to be a random value between -1 and +1 of the true value instead of only -1 and 0. But that won’t change much about what I explained in this video. In short: If you see a high spike for a minor event you know it’s probably EMF 5, this will remain true on the next patches to come.

  1. Some important notes on this video:
TL;DR if you see a high spike for a minor event you know it's probably EMF 5, this will remain true on the next patches to come.

Full story: This video misses one thing: It's not true that emf 4 and 5 give always give a reading of 3 on the graph. Instead the activity chart actually shows every EMF event with a random -1 or 0 value subtracted from the true value (this explains why it still shows activity of 4 on the chart sometimes during this video).

Luckily this doesn't change much about what I explained in the video, it still works the same way: if you see a 3 or 4 for an event that can have at max 1-2 activity you know it's EMF 5. ALSO: I had a short chat with DK and he is fine with this being possible, however it is going to slightly change in the next patch, it's going to be a random value between -1 and +1 of the true value instead of only -1 and 0. 2. If the ghost touches 2 doors at the same time, then the value you get could be a 4. Not impossible, but unlikely. So like you said, if you are closely paying attention, you can get it from this.

  3. so… if its a 3-higher number… its.. a five? or is it if its a 3, its a five? this is too 5Head for me 🙂 i had a round where i died and my friends wanted to guess, looked at the chart, i kinda just guessed by the way it spiked and it turned out to be correct, or maybe i was just lucky

  4. To trigger EMF-5 ghosts you test it either on Ouija with multiple questions or just say “MotherF—er” and I swear to my life it works to me all the time. If it’s not an EMF-5 ghost it usually sticks to 3 and 4.

  5. Interesting, but in what scenario would you be able to observe a specific door touch, and get back to the truck on time, when you just need to pick up an emf, but at last insym will never accept it

Why not just make emf 5 separate and on the board it shows a 1 but in reality it's a 5, the whole emf based on the board thing makes no sense to me why it should work that way. Insym: BUT THATS REALLY COOL THO

  6. I'm curious – even if you don't know what the ghost interacted with couldn't you watch out for a 2 spike on the board to know if it's not an emf 5 ghost since everything for an emf 5 ghost is increased by 1? That would still be kinda easy to spot.

  7. Regarding your 4-spike comment, I'd guess it comes from two emf2 event like door touches with one being emf5. Meaning it should be 1+1=2 but due to emf5 it's 1+3=4

  8. Insym 5 heading the new activity chart omg bruuuuh😂👏👍this still requires one to bring an emf reader in and witness an activity, before immediately running back to the van to check the chart tho… maybe this can be a last minute resort for a difficult ghost? It’s cool but I would be so lazy🤣

  9. I'm not sure what they did to the game, but I had 2 out of the 3 games that I played last night where the ghost wouldn't give us anything, but writing. One ghost seemed to have been moving between the upstairs landing and the foyer below. The temps in both areas would go to the 30 degree F, then back up to like 57 degree F. I've never seen that before. We couldn't figure out what the ghost was, because it wasn't given us any other evidence at all. We just gave up for the night.

  10. They should add extra scary ghost sounds. I remember the first time I heard the Arhrhhrhrhrhrhhrh sound I shat my self but after like 10 ghost runes it really isn't scary anymore. I think extra scary sounds would be amazing, like a creepy laugh, or a scream or creepy breath

  11. This is a great compromise! I think it'd be a shame to remove emf5 on the activity chart entirely as it's a nice additional solve, but it was definitely too easy before. This will help provide an extra puzzle piece for more experienced players, but won't be an easy solve for literally anyone to just look and know. I love having emf5 on activity chart for the reasons you listed; makes coming up with challenge runs more accessible, PLUS it's a great thing to learn for those who prefer staying in the van and gives them an extra tool to help the gang.

  12. Thanks Insym. I dropped into the stream just after you gave the explanation and I've been wondering what the new trick was. I think this is best used if you can call out to someone in the truck. Sometimes you just can't get back to the truck quick enough in solo. I don't normally need it, but sometimes you get that shy ghost and this trick might save you 10 minutes.
