Is the Parabolic Mic BETTER on the NEW Update? – Phasmophobia [LVL 3681]

In this video I test if the Parabolic mic has become more useful in the new Phasmophobia update. However, I have never had a ghost that was this hard to find. Needless to say the paramic barely helped anything (it might have even made it harder because of fake readings). In my opinion the paramic (in its current state) is just completely obsolete. I would love it if they change the paramic to be more of a long range EMF (like a hot and cold device). But that might make the paramic too powerful… What do you think should be changed? Much love and see you during the streams! 😀

  1. This was probably the hardest to find ghost I've ever seen. Needless to say the paramic didn't do much to help. But I'm also far from a pro with the paramic. What do you think?

  2. I think the paramic should become more of a visual hearing device for people whom might have hearing difficulties? For example I'm sensitive to sound, so I can't always have game audio without getting headaches. If it is unlocked from the start maybe or unlocks when you unlock larger maps, and became more of an accessibility feature I think the poor mic would have more purpose in this world lol it might be something that has to be op maybe? I also like your idea of it being more like the emf too, indicating range through numbered colours maybe? Also the bowl needs to be more of a tapas dish size, 😂 I swear you should be able to hear stars and satellite signals with that thing! 😂 Great video as always Insym! Hope everyone is well (or as well as can be) ❤️

  3. It would be cool if the para mic could detect sounds you couldnt hear without it, so if the ghost isnt doing anything you still have something to use to find it.

Pffft i made the comment then insym immediately said that lol

  4. It definitely needs infinite range, more accurate reading, and it needs to last for longer, with infinite range you can get an idea where the ghost is even when your still outside of the building, then when you have an idea you go to that side and pinpoint, would also be really cool if when you get within like 30 or 40 m you start hearing like whispering or voices through the para mic, that would so awesome and so helpful to find the ghost, could be an objective to, “hear the whisper of a ghost with the para mic”

  6. I think rather than changing how the paramic hears sounds, it is probably a better idea to change how it displays those sounds to the player. The numbers just update too slowly for it to be useful. Something more like a waterfall display on a radio or other type of graph where you can see a short history of the sounds would be far more informative to the player. Even something simple like the EMF activity chart, but for sounds recorded by the paramic would be a lot better.

  7. I feel the parabolic mic could be implemented in a more fun way. Make it so you need to record sound to hear the ghost say something similar to the spirit box but can only be accessed in the truck. Make it on/off togglable and make it intensify every sound in the game immensely so you can actually hear a ghost from the other side of the map and you have to wear headphones so it actually muffles normal sound as you walk around. Maybe all ghosts could have a parabolic message that you can record and it leads to the room its in or one of the clues of what kind of ghost it could be.

I feel even if it gets buffed to solid use in its current state theres just going to be better and/or more interesting things to use.

  8. I think the paramic is a great concept for players who might be hard of hearing, just as an accessibility tool where the majority of people won't use it, but it's really helpful for a few. Like I don't think EVERY item has to be useful to EVERY player, and it'd be great if this game provided more accessibility items. The trouble is, like you said in the video, it's still not the best at giving reliable readings so its not even useful to players who can't hear.

  9. They should reduce the size of the Mic design and do the boost as you said for its range; They make the dish much smaller now theses days for one and in most cases use a Nillon that's seen through.

But they should also add a Mouse two function, Where when you click it, it plays back the last few seconds it heard and gives you roughly by the quilty a clue on how far it is. Like, Muffled if it's behind some walls or another floor, echoing if it's far down a hallway.

You'll still have to wait for the ghost to do something, but at least then you can hear what's making the mic go off and discern if it's something you caused by accident or if the sound itself was an object or door being touched, so you know what to look for if you do come across the ghost room.

  10. Para Mic should be replaced by the SLS Camera. At least the SLS would show you if it's in the room, where it is in the room, and if it's moving. Also great for determining exactly where it spends most of it's time to determine if it's a room ghost or a hallway one.

  11. You could test the limits of the paramic by going multiplayer and having someone walk down the hall opening and closing doors until the sound no longer registers.

  12. According Psycho guide to the paramic, you need to move slowly. BUT you need to wait for some interaction. What it means that you need to wait at some place, moving it slowly, hoping for a interaction, and hopping for the paramic detects it. IT'S STILL FCKING USELESS. It's impossible to use it in big maps before you run out of sanity, or even worse in multiplayer.
Damn, and I had great expectations for it.

  13. The paramic can be done just like it was in Metal Gear Solid 2. Realtime instead of every 2 seconds, and the closer you are to the sound source, the louder it is in your headset with it equipped. As it is, the Paramic right now is useless as you have to work harder than you should to locate sounds.
