When I was young on the rare times we went camping we would go for 4 to 8 days with the goal to not needing to return to town for anything. We had a older smaller tent (left over from backyard camping) that we would bring along just to store supplies and keep them out of the weather. Just making use out of something we would otherwise have tossed as none of the family could sleep in it anymore.
