A big update is due in August for Phasmophobia. Potentially two new ghost types, new evidence, equipment adjustments, new visuals, and more. In this video I’ll be going over what we might expect to see in this upcoming update.

  1. What are you looking forward to the most in this upcoming update?
    Just to clarify, the names are only speculations at the moment, but this is what they appear to be. Nothing from the journal has been 100% confirmed.
    Also I mentioned upgradeable item tiers in the video – small correction, I'm not 100% sure if they will make it to this update or come in a later update.

  2. I don’t know where else to post this, but here are a few ideas that I think everyone can get behind. Feel free to post your thoughts and further ideas here.

    – In the case of the parabolic mic not being as useful, maybe since we know certain interactions correlate to certain dB levels, certain ghost types can be clunkier and clumsier which will produce slightly higher than normal dB readings for those specific interactions. So like ghosts can sometimes produce louder than typical dB levels when interacting with objects but certain ghost types will more often produce louder dB levels.

    – A film grain filter that strengthens as sanity lowers. It should become noticeable and apparent but not too strong to the point of annoyance and loss of visibility.

    – When sanity becomes low enough, hallucinations can start, causing the player to panic and become disoriented and need other players to be near them to regain composure. In SP, you’d basically be screwed unless you can miraculously manage to escape. When a player is hallucinating / panicking, the chance of a hunt is increased. If a hunt starts while someone is panicking / hallucinating, the ghost will target them.

  3. For those who have not played the witcher 3; a myling is a ghost of an unborn passed baby. So i am hoping they make it extra creepy and these "sounds" will be simular to those of resident evil baby monster.

  4. Looks like some cues are being taken from Phasmo's newer competitors – Not that it's a bad thing, mind. I'm just glad the team is growing (As is the skill pool), the game is advancing and we're going to see some new things.
    My group and I have about 130 hours each in the game already as it sits and I don't think it's going to suddenly stop; we're dragging more people in/pulling some back. Even if we know the mechanics to the game, it still is one of our most played games together this year. I know we look forward to it.
    And Nuzzgard, thank you for background helping us go from fumbling newbies to level 3-400+ers.

  5. Id like to see more environmental interactions like the dirty water. How about wall writing, ghost appearing in mirrors, pictures/mirrors/glass shattering, bleeding walls, ghost actually talking to you maybe through a radio or TV.

I think the paramic might become more useful if either the footsteps or croaking were very quiet or completely inaudible without it, or there are some otherwise inaudible sounds that hint at ghost type or present location. It would lend itself to paramics being used for directional long-range hearing.

  7. In my 21 years of gaming, i have very rarely been excited for an update like this. I am completely pumped!! Only thing I could really ask for is a Console Port and Crossplay so my Console friends can play 🙂

  8. I really hope new ghosts models are part of the update – but the update sounds fantastic as it is!!! Right now the parabolic is reading sounds OUTSIDE the house before I unlock the door, so seeing the equipment working more as intended would be fantastic (phantastic?) 🙂

  9. As far as I remember, CJ (the new lead artist) has said that we will now be able to sprint.. we will not need to hold the sprint button 24/7 as we tend to now. He also said that the ghosts are getting smarter, and that they will be able to sprint as well. You can notice the difference already on the camcorder video, as well as the headbobbing which was said you can turn it on/off in the settings. But yes, I am very excited for overall all the changes, see how everything affects Phasmo and how much it will change as to what it currently is

  10. Thanks for the detailed video! I have a feeling that the new projector tool will be the one on display in the van, while the video camera is now handheld only. One of the suggestions was that the new ghost type won't show itself when people are nearby. So, checking while in the van will be necessary. What do you think?
