The Phasmophobia Christmas Update introduced new Shade abilities to make it easier to identify on Nightmare. In this video I am going to show you what abilities this ghost has now so you are better prepared for Nightmare mode.

  1. Interesting, didn't know about the 35% sanity hunt requirement.

Got a Shade last match that I was 100% sure it was The Twins: On Tanglewood in Nightmare, ghost room was the Boy's Bedroom. I set sound sensors covering the left rooms from the entrance, master, dining and garage (no overlap), as well as motion sensors in a way that the ghost would have to fire them if it went anywhere beyond the left rooms like dining or garage.
The sound detectors from far away rooms were detecting sound all at the same time consistently, but no motion sensors getting fired. Ofc it had to be the wandering twin while the main one was messing around in the ghost room… But it was in fact a Shade!

The same situation happened before Cursed Poss. update and it was The Twins. Either the sensors have been changed somehow or the game bugged, most likely.
Also the Shade was pretty active and constantly interacting with stuff, even strumming the guitar from time to time.
Had I known about the 35% sanity weakness, I would have tested it to be sure. Don't trust sensors no more. Lol

  2. Thanks for posting this. Based on the patch notes I was actually wondering if they changed the Shade to just never do ghost events or to only do the puff smoke/audio ghost events. And then I had a nightmare game where the shade never did a ghost event. I was starting to think I might have been correct, so this video definitely saved me some confusion in the future 😀

  3. There may be an additional ability:

I had match where the Shade could interact with items without moving them. So the only way to know something had happened was with the EMF reader. But this doesn’t happen every time.

I even filled the room with items and it would trigger EMF without any apparent touching or throwing items.
