May be placing multiple crucifixes in the room would have covered the whole room, bathroom and closet room?
I'm not sure if a crucifix always prevents a hunt if the ghost is in the circle or it only has a chance to prevent the hunt, because Tyler placed it in a good spot to cover the area.
