  1. I've been consistently trying to use it for months now and I finally have a pretty good/consistent strat, its really REALLY unreliable with actual noises or any distance or detecting through walls from my experience, and I never get it to tick off more when something loud happens, however, most times that I find the room it stays at an almost consistent 1.5/3.0 when I'm in or pointing into the room. I find it to just be a thermometer but slightly more reliable, especially when used at the beginning of a mission (e.g. someone completely walked past a room near the entrance where the parabolic read 1.5, I placed a book down and it immediately wrote in it). What I'm not 100% on though is if it's the room or the actual ghost making the sound, I'm leaning more on the ghost as sometimes I get spikes of 15/16.5 at one specific place when it haunts a large area, but regardless, I do prefer using it over the temp gun in almost every situation now that my months of slamming my head into a brick wall actually did something.
Edit: Most recent patch makes this less reliable/useful for some reason I don’t know, multiple rooms just have the 1.5/3.0 happen
