Welcome back to Phasmophobia! This time we are doing an item tier list! This was honestly really hard! I tried to make this list as interesting as possible and ranked items based on a lot more than “are they required in a normal game” otherwise all evidence items would just be S Tier and it would be boring (in my opinion) to not consider more factors and have no separation. This might make some people disagree with my list and I think that is completely fair! I ranked all items based on their strength, diversity and usefulness. I hope this list is informative! Even if you don’t agree with all the rankings I hope it was still fun to learn about potentially new uses that you didn’t know some items had! Much love and see you during the streams 😀

2. A lot of people disagreed about my placement of the lighter, I think this is just purely opinion based. I put it in C tier (I change my mind later in the video) because it’s completely useless by itself. Now you could say that also applies to smudge sticks and candles but I think that is just a cop-out answer because those items have very strong and unique uses. YES, they need a lighter to function so I guess you could say the lighter is required, but I just chose not to take that into account when ranking the lighter by itself. Honestly you cannot rank the lighter at all in my opinion, it just creates many inconsistencies no matter how you rank it. So just decide wherever you would put the lighter for yourself, I’m going to just not put it anywhere on the list at all, it’s an unranked item.

Ranking the items was honestly really hard! Glowsticks best item. I just leave them at the enterance and the go hide in the truck while my friends do the work.

Candle is a waste of an item slot, imo. Sure, you keep your sanity, but you're also wasting time. Could find all the evidence by the time sanity is even an issue if you carried something else. Plus, the ghost can blow it out… so now you have to go back for a lighter, which is ANOTHER wasted slot. Yeah, no man. Disagree.
16:40 I start missions with UV light as light source, EMF and photo cam
If I find the ghost room, it's usually because it touched a door anyways, so, for the first part of the mission, I use it as a light source, when I'm still very much safe from hunts
I really want an item that acts as some kind of "ghost bait" that randomly lures the ghost into hunting, even when there's no one inside, so I can do speed tests on solo games (or blinking tests for the phantom)
It'd make the ghost act exactly the same way as if there was a player inside, having a chance to trigger a hunt anytime
As soon as the ghost hunted, the item would be used up
I know I can trigger a hunt at the door and step out as soon as it starts, but it feels a bit cheap

I think you forgot to say it in the video, but for the smudge stick, it would also be worth mentioning that it can be used to save a teammate's life if they're being chased
This should be fun. My Phasmo item tier list:
S Tier: Strong Flashlight, Photo Camera, Smudge sticks
A Tier: Thermometer, EMF, Video Camera, Candles, Ouija Board
B Tier: Spirit Box, UV Light, Writing Book, Crucifix, Salt
C Tier: Sound Sensor, Motion Sensor, Sanity Pills, Lighter, Camera Pod
D Tier: Head Camera, Paramic, IR Sensor, Glowsticks, Flashlight
S should be pretty obvious. I use the strong flashlight in 99% of the games. Photo Cam is must have, moneys and evidence, and Smudge Sticks are just extremely powerful, I abuse the shit out of them, to save myself from hunts, to prevent the ghost from hunting to get that final piece of evidence, to save my teammates, etc.
A tier are the items that I find very strong, Thermo is still my go to item to find the ghost room (usually I find the ghost room by sound cues and activity, and the Thermo helps me confirm that it is indeed the ghost room). EMF is really good, but not as good as Thermo IMO, I'll take it if all the Thermos were taken. The the ghost could be wandering and doing activity outside its room, so EMF gives false positives, unlike the Thermo reading. Video cameras I use a lot, to observe the ghost while its hunting (I usually play with a full lobby, if a hunt happens while I'm outside I'm going straight to the truck to check the cameras). I usually place 3-4 of them every game. Candles, just like you said, extremely powerful, specially in no evidence runs. And Ouija Board is nice to find where the ghost is, to drain sanity to trigger hunts and to find out if its a Demon in a Mare/Demon situation, I always use it when the map has it.
B tier are the rest of evidence items, and Crucifix which is useful to buy time but not much else. Spirit Box was fun in the beginning but it got old quick. Nowadays I just throw it in the ground at the ghost room and wait for a response. Its annoying in group play because usually the ghost will only answer 1 person and random people are scared of being alone in the room to talk with the ghost. UV light is good for evidence and footprints, but I don't usually use it as a light, its too dim. Writing book is same as Spirit Box for me, just throw it in there and wait. And Salt I barely ever use, but its nice for the extra $$$ and for no evidence runs.
C tier is stuff that I only ever use if its needed or if its an optional objective. Sound Sensor can still be useful as an last effort to find extremely elusive ghosts cause of the large area it covers. But its been a while since I last used it. Motion Sensor I only use for optional objective. Sanity Pills are for when I screwed up and the ghost is chain hunting. Lighter is pretty obvious, no use outside of lighting up candles and smudge sticks. Camera pods are nice but I can live without them.
D tier is stuff that I never ever use. Head cameras, only exist to drain my pockets when I die. Same for Paramics. IR Sensor, don't know why they even exist. Glowsticks, why use them if there is a UV Light? Flashlight, so garbage that after I got my first Strong Flashlight I never touched them again.

Poor lighter. It make other items shine so bright but gets no love.
Usually I put the lower flashlight all over the houses and corridors. This makes easier to escape without light

I don't see how the candle can be put above the uv light. Uv light gives both evidence and a light source, candle is just a terrible light source which is able to be placed down and the ghost can just blow out the candle anyway and leave you in the dark. instead of carrying a useless candle to lose less sanity you could just use evidence gathering tools during that time and then take a sanity pill afterwards. I would put the uv light either a or b and the candle in c.
Edit: I don't know if there is something i'm missing about the candle since you say it prevents hunts forever but as far as I know all it does is slightly reduce sanity drain, I looked it up and it also says this.
what if u could place the photo cam on the tripod and have it automatically take a pic of the ghost? 🙂
I like to use candle on asylum until I find the ghost room then leave it at the door of the ghost room so I'm not dropping sanity roaming around the large map
@54:46 I was challenged to do a blindfolded run with my teammates, so I carried sound-based equipment (spiritbox and emf) i think a crucifix, and the headmounted camera. I asked them to not guide me out of the house, instead to leave me in a corner and just tell me if I need to adjust where I was facing. we found the ghost orb and I somehow survived that run. Wish I clipped the whole thing. Took me a minute to get inside the house cuz I kept bumping into walls.
Parabolic is S tier no joke, it can locate the ghost room so easily, especially on large maps. It will show over 10 if you point it at the ghost room.
Parabolic Mic is so bad it went below D Tier and caused a system overflow to end up above the Spirit Box…
It would be fun if the spirit box could be used to talk to dead teammembers, but with a distorted effect.
INSYUM can you do a tier list on ghost type from difficulty? Keep the good work!

I'm completely lost. EMF is way better than spirit box, half of the ghosts completely disregard it lol. Like it's good for roaming ghosts, yes, but all of that becomes irrelevant if you can't find the ghost in the first place. The EMF is the only item I absolutely can't live without, S tier af. Walking around with it calling out the ghosts' mother is the best way I've found to locate the ghost room.
Lighter should have gotten its own tier because the lighter is as good as the items it activates.

I think the headcam was a little underrated and it belongs at B Teir.
The main reason why is the fact that it takes no inventory at all! Literally an item which only has a downside if you die. Even if it does nothing, it takes nothing from you which I think makes it at least worthy of a B
