  1. Forgot to comment last nigh – my dude, you know way too much about this game, lol. I dunno how big the development team is, but I hope they can fix some of the things that affect players the most. Love the concept of the game, it just seems inconsistent in some aspects from watching playthroughs.

  2. Great video, so many changes and its nice to have them all in one place.

I dont want to bag on the dev, but im with you. He has needed a swift kick in the ass for a long time and a lot of this is co structive criticism. Get to work man no excuses now.

  3. The reason the dev focuses so much on the thermopeter is because poeple constandly complain about it so much XD
Also i get your concerne about the temperature having to go up on profesisonal maps before you can reliably use the thermometer, especially on bigger maps
But for MY group the only consequence of that has been, that we now rig up the entire house with sound sensors at the start of the match to find the ghost room, which is a good change in my mind
I do like a lot of your suggestions though! Even if your suggetsed objectives are more just.. random challenges and not things that a ghost hunting group would realistically do XD

Also isn't the BETA branch literally suppsoed to be for testing ? Im pretty sure none of the changes you talked about here are even in the fully released game yet o:

  4. My experiences with the new updates seem to already include some of your suggestions. Honestly, if you don't exclusively rely on the Thermo to find the ghost this patch doesn't effect you at all. My friends and I play exclusively in Professional. While these patches were dropping this became our procedure: We id where the breaker is on the map in the truck. One person goes for the breaker, carrying an EMF. The rest of the team goes in with either the other EMF or Spirit box and photo camera, hunting for the bone or potentially finding the room with other means. Once power is established, if the bone has been found and photographed we tend to leave the house for a moment to let it warm up without encouraging ghost activity. Then we go back in and proceed like normal. Ghost's don't mess with breakers very much. Prior to these changes, my team would go in and ignore the breaker because we never turned on lights or anything, this gives us reason to care. Thermo was too easy and in experiencing each update honestly I think they are on the right track. No other tool was so efficient, now to get that efficiency you have to put a lot of the effort. To me this is adding challenge where there previously was no. Once the intial phasmophobia dies down in the player the game becomes too easy.
I'm not hear to white knight for the guy, but I think he is trying to balance the Thermo first before he addresses the other tools. He does seem to listen to feed back, thus the Para Mic buff. I think we are going to see each tool getting updated as he goes. He really needs to get more coders to help though, so they can focus on getting the trolly bugs while he focuses on balance and features. Here's a feature I would like to see updated : Add a new ghost type that also has Fingerprints and Orbs because right now if you find those two evidences first you already know you got a poltergeist because no one else has that combo.

  5. I completely agree with randomizing if doors are open or not. The heater is a problem though. In a way, it does make it harder to find the ghost but it's not a good 'hard'. It's basically a tedious fetch quest.

  6. I feel like for the optional objectives specific "detect a ghost using this or that" is too specific and can give the ghost away. I feel like something more open would be better. Like "Obtain visual documentation of a presence" could be covered by a photo of the ghost, spirit orbs, dirty water, fingerprints (salt footprints), or 5 poltergeist activity (things moving/being thrown); or "Communicate with the ghost" can be checked off with the spirit box, ghost writing, or the ouiji board.

I've always felt like when the board says, "get an EMF of 4", the game is basically saying, "there's gonna be an EMF of 5." or "get a temp reading of 10 degrees or below" is practically saying freezing temps ahead. But if the optional objectives are a bit more open, then that allows for a kind of repeated earning of them in 1 round. By that I don't mean spam 8 photos of finger prints and profit, I mean if it's something like communicate with the ghost and you get it to do the ouiji board and write in the book, that's so many extra dollars for the ouiji board and an extra amount for the book as well. If it's part of the identifying evidence, which it can only happen if it is, then you can only count it for the extra "communication" if you have the second book and get it to write in that one as well. This is just an idea I had though.

  7. I felt like I watched a man slowly lose his mind through this video. You brought up a lot of good points but I suppose it boils down to the question of what order to tackle all of these problems and changes? Seems to me the dev might be going one item at a time and then he'll move on to the next, or he's just doing what comes to kind as he goes. Haven't played in a good while so I don't have an opinion on the new stuff yet. I'll just have to wait and see I guess.

  8. Bruh, it's the beta branch with a 5 man dev team, he's having the players test it. He's even been in streams communicating with the players. You can't QA very well without paying people and players love testing things in this game as well. Instead of being salty about the rollbacks, be glad the problem is getting addressed immediately in real time instead of lingering.

  9. It was pretty great to see the increase in exasperation as you went on through these notes. xD I'm glad that doesn't only happen to me. Definitely a lot of little patches of minor inconveniences when there are bigger fish to fry. There were some good quality of life changes so far but you made some great points about higher priorities that could be looked at. Idk if the dev feels pressured to patch the game as fast as possible so they're just trying to throw patches out there instead of building it, testing it, rebuilding it, then releasing a quality update. They'll hopefully get the hang of it though eventually. That was a LOT to go over. Well done!

  10. This was well put together and informative. I also appreciate "rants" that provide useful feedback rather than just "Boo, this stinks!". Thank you for that.

I hate to say this, because Phasmophobia is fantastic for what it is and the developer seems really dedicated to his work, but it feels like a string of "panic" updates. If memory serves, there are more horror games right around the corner that can potentially take attention away from Phasmo. I'm certain there is also this lingering worry of the game growing stale after too long without frequent updates, as I have heard several YouTubers and streamers mention their concerns of this as well. Exploits have been publicized and showcased, like "safe spots", on these same platforms–which, I'm sure didn't settle well on him either, seeing as how most of them suck the fun right out of the game.

I jumped for joy at first, but it doesn't seem like he is giving much time between each update for things to be properly planned and tested. He's loading us up with a bunch of stuff to work with on beta branch, and I think it might be too much right now. Dude needs to slow down and take a nap to give us time to catch up with it all.

  11. I completely agree about the other things to focus on. BTW Well done, even I felt shame at the end and I didn't make the game! It's like Conan O'Brien + Mr. Rodgers… Conan Rodgers, was VERY disappointed in me.
P.S. Some of the bugs make the game great. My friends and I were in HS Professional; we didn't know it but we were dealing with a demon at the time. The breaker was OFF, we were in the cafeteria when all of a sudden we heard humming and the lights started flickering. We saw her just standing there with her head just freaking out, just watching us. Then she started a hunt and we scattered, but it only lasted for 2-3 seconds… No one died. She just randomly decided to stop the hunt right away and it put us ALL on edge. When she actually did start hunting and got one of us it was truly terrifying.
