  1. So the way it works is, unless this is on beta, as soon as you break line of sight you no longer exist to it. On the beta the ghost will act as though you are where it last saw you so this will probably not work, again unless this was on beta.

  2. Its called Ray casting.
The ghost had 2 ray cast lines, frontally and back of head, or otherwise the line aims at the head and another at torso, to check detection of players.

This is why in older versions the ghost has a detection range to infinity in a straight line, but the newer AI seems more limited to short distances so it can't sense players behind them or passing by them when the players hides behind stuff.

You can hide behind doors, so in a sense you can hide in the ghost room behind a door the ghost can't line of sight to you, you can also use doors to cut line of sight with a ghost, so if a ghost is following mid distance and you quickly pop open a door and dive into the room, that line ends at the edge of the door where it last saw you go behind.

The ghost will travel to the open door and notice nothing is outside the doorway and may roam into the nearby rooms to basically check the surroundings. So if there is multiple doorways, you can basically open doors to disturb the ghost's navigation.
