  1. As a developer (not for this game obviously) I feel pretty safe saying this.
Adding more developers does not do what you think it does. More developers doesn't scale all that nicely.

Lets talk about it like from a content creator perspective. Specifically a "Lets play" perspective. Adding another video editor could easily mean an increase in the output of videos as long as there are more videos to edit.
This is because, generally speaking. Each video is truly independent from the others. An editor making a change to video B has no effect on video A.

That means video editors, generally, scale linearly with the amount of videos a channel can pump out.

However, if instead of a "lets play" channel, we had a tale of adventure with an overarching progressing story. A change in video A could result in parts of video B, C, D, E, F, etc having parts of them that needs to be rerecorded and reedited.

In that scenario, video editors do not scale cleanly and linearly. In fact, different video editors can introduce continuity errors as they don't necessarily individually know what happens in prior videos. This creates a whole new role where you need to hire people to proof videos and ensure said potential continuity errors are fixed before going live.

This is what happens with development. New developer A touches Y system for halloween. Maybe he adds new ghost events. Old Developer X is also touching code on ghost events, maybe fixing bugs. Ahead of developer A finishing his changes Developer X pushes out a pull request and it's merged into production and pushed live. Developer A now has to update his code and potentially deal with what we call "merge conflicts". You can think of merge conflicts like continuity errors. Developer A and Developer X both made changes to the ghost events in the similar places. So now you have to figure out what the new continuity is (the new correct code that is a combination of both people's changes).

This is a problem that can get out of hand very easily. Development isn't a simple straight forward process. Programming itself is actually a creative process. It's rare that 2 developers approach the same problem the exact same way. At a certain point you can essentially have "too many cooks in the kitchen". That's when you begin to split up teams by the systems they work on, rather than having teams work on overarching "projects". Extremely large companies with 1000s of employees generally work this way. There's a sound team, there's a physics team, etc etc. And none of this necessarily comes with an increase in speed on editing just 1 game. Rather it comes with a potential increase in output via working on multiple different games at the same time.

Anyway, I hope that gives you some insight into why your comments about "Just hire another dev dedicated to this" don't necessarily hold up to scrutiny.

  2. The challenge was interesting the ghosts I got were a shade for the first round and was kinda obvious, second round was a Moroi and it gave evidence really fast and for the last ghost it was a myling that me and my friends never found the ghost room but we figured it out when it hunted a few times

  3. My friends and I did this challenge mode last night. We figured it was going to take ages, but the first ghost refuse to step in salt, so we got Wraith, second round we noticed double interactions and called in The Twins. The third round, I noticed double interactions on that one graph in the truck and we called it Twins again, and won the $5000. Phas never fails to be interesting in terms of how the ghosts can act, and their individual traits.

  4. Did this weekly challenge 5 times. 3/4 of us had it, another only had 1 of the challenge runs done.

I ran in with the DOTS pen.
    Someone used a video camera.
    Another used the glowstick.
    Flashlight for the last one.

I had the most map knowledge/could realistically run in with no light and feel my way around in the dark so I always went for the breaker. This helped significantly with navigation for the team.

  5. I think you need to stand outside of the ghost room to test for a Banshee while solo now, if the ghost has DOTS.
Although is seems a bit buggy still and they often walk all over the place, DOTS mode ghosts are meant to walk towards a player if they are in the room or within range or something like that (more testing required). Regardless, DOTS mode can somewhat mimic the Banshee ability and that's probably why the Yokai came to you.
Holding the DOTS out while standing on the salt would also work to rule out a DOTS mode wander.

  6. In my opinion, the DOTS pen is the most ass item in the entire game. Like hands down, no question. It’s only okay in VERY small rooms sitting on a counter or something. It’s basically useless. It was comical seeing you walk around the gym with it and I about lost my damn mind when you saw the ghost with it 😂

  7. Me and my bf have tried all the previous weeklies that have previously played, and we struggled a decent amount on them. Surprisingly enough, this was the easiest one for us so far. We got all 3 ghost right immediately. But I will say, we were really lucky. We had a polter throwing like crazy. Yurei slamming doors, and a Demon that hunted immediately. So we were able to guess even without evidence.

  8. They should add a feature to add two ghost to hunt, obviously getting them to be distinguished from one another would be hard but I think it would be possible. Just have them share a hunt timer and even double the items you can bring. Would add a great challenge to people like Insym and make it harder for 4 man parties

  9. I don't really play Phasmo myself, but do enjoy Insyms videos – but with the large rooms would placing the items near where the orbs spawned also be closer to the place the ghost spawns.? or having to collect some items and see where the ghost kicks them up for where to place the other items.? I would assume the ghost has a relatively set movement pattern, though could well be wrong here. . . 😀

  10. My mom and i love your videos! I had an idea for a challenge, though i doubt you'll see this XD We basically take turns "aiding" the ghost. It's called the Menace Challenge. Basically one person has a full minute to get set up and get started on finding the ghost. The other person, once the time is up, goes into the house and looks for the cursed object. The Menace cannot touch any evidence items unless it's to throw the item, such as throwing the writing book, yeeting the camera, etc. You can turn off the breaker, turn on or off lights, turn on radios, and lead people astray with evidence, etc. As the hunter, you cannot touch the cursed object. The hunter's goal is the get the ghost identified correctly without dying and make it to the van. The Menace's job is to kill the other person as fast as possible before they can identify the ghost. If you die and get the ghost right, it's a tie. It was SUPER fun, and i loved it XD

  11. I played this on multiplayer – wasn’t too terrible if you know the layout because we split up and found the ghost room quick enough. I had flashlight, partner had UV or cam. We failed only one out of the three

  12. I’ve had that “items fall through the bottom door frame on high school” bug before. So annoying! Also, I was still a noob player during Halloween last year so I missed the trophy. I’m really really hoping that they run it back this year so I can earn it now. 🙏🏻

  13. Hi insym! I was wondering if you could try a challenge where you make a spinning wheel of all the equipment in phasmo including breaker, crucifixes, cursed items, and all the regular ones like thermo and emf, and spin the wheel, whatever it lands on you cant use that round, pretty simple but seems fun hope you do it 😀
