Welcome to my first encounter and testing of the new Thaye ghost. I feel like the Thaye is slightly underwhelming in its current iteration, but with some tweaks it could definitely be a more fun ghost.

Thank you for the video Nuzzgard! I agree the Thaye could use some changes and hopefully it'll get tweaked sooner or later!
As a sidenote, I often times see Insym, Psycho and Cjdxn playing together and I'd love to see you play with them making it the perfect four man squad!
Best regards!
Finally, I was in the first 3 to comment
Pin this if you are awesome
I definitely agree that making it based on the time in the ghost room would make the ghost much stronger and in my opinion more fun. But at the same time, I think the developers have said before that not every ghost needs to be really strong. So it's possible that they just intended for this to be another pushover ghost. I can see both ways.
Thaye's ablities should directly effect it's hunts. Making it very dangerous when you first get into the building. Even more dangerous than a revenant but as the match goes on becomes weaker ending up at a slightly below average ghost. Ways for them to be very powerful: Extreme sense during hunts (sorta a reverse Yokai), fast walking speed during hunts,(I'm pretty sure that's already in the game already), being quieter during hunts. But this power will "slowly" ramp down as the match progresses. I feel like changing it's aging speed to be slower is the best bet but this was just some ideas I threw out there
i miss the old bus too! i feel lonely, everyone i know loves it but the new one feels so empty, in a way
Walk in house -> immediately have things thrown and doors open -> mark down Thaye -> hope to god it doesnt hunt while you complete side objectives š
Love the new ghosts I played them all and enjoyed itšš
Had a Thaye encounter the night prior to this video. The Thaye behaved as suspected. Interactions and occasional ghost events but no hunts early on. Later on it got more aggressive but this was due to the collective low sanity of my group and also due to smudging to induce more activity. Throughout it all, it didnāt occur to anybody that this was a Thaye because it wasnāt performing behaviors that are distinct from any other ghost types. We only figured it out through the collection of evidence and ruling out other evidences.
I was able to observe itās hunt speed late in the game. Sat and waited for it to hunt and itās speed was about as slow as a Deogen. Maybe a tad faster but I was able to loop it through the duration of the hunt. It was not able to catch me at itās weakest.
I had a Thaye during a two player game on Highschool. It did the reverse of its intended ability and was extremely quiet at first. It took us about 20 minutes and complete all the optional objectives just for it to become very active. Opening all doors, throwing lots and doing numerous ghost events close together. Even after all that it didn't hunt us at all.
and like that, this video is already outdated. they updated the thaye's behaviour. XD
I'd have expected them to hunt during the beginning of missions and not the end, so you'd be in danger of hunts the second you walked in the house. Plus I'd have expected hunts to not be based around sanity, but on a timer (time near ghost)
I feel the Thaye was made simply to make you want to actually play the game and not lose focus cause if you dont get your evidence fast then its gonna be very difficult when it ages
I had the same thing it gave me more events late into the round rather then earlier, and it didn't hunt until super late. When he did hunt he was very very slow out run at walking speed
I know it wouldn't make sense with the theme but I wish it was the same way but with the speed change reversed, hunts often at the start but very slow and then later in the mission low activity and rare hunts but if it does its super fast
I had two thayes. the first one was so active at the beginning i thought it was a thaye without knowing anything about thayes, even more active than an oni, but slowed down to about average.
the second thaye i had did almost nothing, many shady vibes. the emf was glitched that mission so I didn't get any activity on the graph even though it did a few interactions. it was still super inactive regardless and didn't get much action at all throughout.
The new truck update is "nice" and tidy…but does indeed lack personality. I feel it was an unnecessary change.
I think the Thaye might be the fastest ghost in the game. My group had found the ghost almost as soon as we entered the door (tossed something). Out of spite for not being able to find the ghost with the Ouija Board, I decided to play "hide and seek". I hid and proceeded to hear the fastest footsteps I've heard. Couple of teammates were watching from outside said the same thing. Not applicable in most games, but fun fact to know.
I've had a very inactive Thaye that acted exactly like a shade and Ive also had a Thaye on a multiplayer game on Tanglewood that hunted early at around 62-64 average team sanity and killed my friend instantly. Another one hunted at 50 average sanity and beelined faster then a Rev to the locker I was hiding in and opened the locker and then killed me instantly. After both times they became quiet again.
Couldn't agree more! I think the Thaye is one of the most interesting ghosts by design but it lacks in execution. I think the proximity thing you mentioned is the most important change they could make. That way it would feel like the ghost is actively trying to fight you out of the ghost room so it can stay powerful. That would be very interesting!
Oddly enough, my first encounter with a Thaye was terrifying. I walked in, we heard a throw, went upstairs and I immediately died due to the Ghost's ridiculous speed and there being no unblocked hiding spots upstairs (Ridgeview). But this was also my ONLY encounter.
Otherwise I definitely agree that basing the decay on time spent in the ghost room is more engaging. It's definitely going to be a difficult ghost to balance though, given what I remember from its speed.
I've only come across a Thaye once, and it was a roller coaster. I was playing with 2 friends, and it took us about a minute to find the ghost room. After another 2 minutes, it killed both of my friends one after the other. Then after that, it was less active than a Shade and refused to hunt.
