  1. The mimic does always throw orbs to try to confuse you. The journal tells you this. On nightmare, you need to use the journal to eliminate possible ghosts based on behavior, since the last piece of evidence is hidden. If you get three, including orbs, it is a mimic.

And good job hiding in the lockers and remembering to turn off electronics, as the closets are now basically death traps. The best spots in Tanglewood are behind the crib in the nursery (crouched), in the back of the basement behind the board, and in the lockers in the garage.

If someone is trapped inside, whoever is outside needs to call out when the door unlocks, because the one inside cannot speak or check it without risking death.

It's good practice to have crucifixes laid down in the room once found, and someone with a smudge stick & lighter to save you in the event the crucifix is in the wrong spot (they don't cover entire rooms, only a small radius).

You can drop equipment that is on to help you detect things and free up your hands for more equipment. Just don't forget where it is.

Be really still when using the video camera, as even slight reflections from flashlights can look like orbs from a distance.

Taking pictures of the bone, the ghost, interactions, and the cursed object are really easy ways to make money.

Yokais can attack pretty early with high sanity if you or anyone else speaks near them, so it is good to assume it is a Yokai until ruled out.

If you are going to place salt, make sure you have a UV flashlight or glowstick to check it for footprints. Or a camera, which is kind of cheating.

Make sure ALL held equipment is off when a hunt occurs.

Demons can attack at any time, but a crucifix makes them very passive, and significantly less likely to hunt.

Mimics can mimic abilities, not evidence.

Never light anything unless you know for sure that you are not dealing with an Onryo. They can blow out candles and instantly trigger a hunt.

Don't leave equipment on and lying around after it is done being used, because Raijus use it to speed up and get you.

Don't leave the power on if a Jinn is possible, because they speed up with power on.

Never hide from a Deogen, as they always know where you are. You can easily outrun them.

If you play with in-game mics, communicate with household objects. You can throw them to show where to go, drop once for yes and twice for no to answer questions about evidence, and annoy people who are useless.

If you're about to die, try to yell out if the ghost was fast before it saw you or sped up at any time to help the others.

If you're going to use lights, do so outside the ghost room and in large central locations. Too many lights on trips the breaker.

Each cursed object spawns in its own set location in each map.

    Footprints are not fingerprints.

If you don't have a thermometer (ALWAYS BRING ONE), use your breath to check temps.

Head-mounted cameras are a waste of money unless people stand still to look for orbs. Or for comedic value when they are being hunted.

Sound sensors are only helpful on very large maps.

Some pieces of evidence occasionally decide to take a stupid amount of time to register, especially ghost writing. Enjoy.

Only say the ghost's name when it is not giving evidence for long periods of time. Extremely inactive ghosts are likely shades.

If you go to the campsite, only hide behind piles of objects, or in small tents if you have nothing else at all.

If footprints don't register in a salt pile, it is almost certainly a wraith. Almost, because some people catch pictures of other things instead of the salt and get confused.

Don't play the asylum until you have a lot of experience. Or the prison. Or the high school. Those places are massive and you'll die.

Make sure you guys ask questions like "where are you?" "how old are you?" and "what do you want?" Repeat those every few seconds on spirit box. The x going off means nothing was picked up. The ghost symbol tells you if something was picked up and you're deaf.

Ghost hissing is fine. They do that. Same with randomly appearing. Only worry when the door closes and equipment flashes.

Holding doors shut causes the ghost to walk through and kill you. Only use lockers, not closets. You need to close the door when it opens, and only grab it then.

And dead people can eat candy during the Halloween event (for now). Afterward, someone needs to light a bunch of jack o lanterns that spawn, then get a picture of the ghost on nightmare on the maps with pumpkin stickers. You can do this easily by having someone bring everything and wait in the truck while the others complete the tasks. Kinda cheesy, but it gets you the trophy if you want to do it quickly.
