The Revenant Is Now Much Weaker, Here's Why – Phasmophobia

The Revenant used to be extremely strong in the early days of Phasmophobia. Since the addition of player sprinting, the Revenant is now a much weaker ghost.
On the vast majority of maps, which are small maps, you can deny it of its power extremely easily with the new sprinting mechanic. You even have plenty of options to do this on the larger maps and it only poses a major threat in particularly open areas. Even then, careful positioning can keep you safe.
The Revenant also has a weakness which is very exploitable and detrimental to it in comparison to other ghost types. As well as lacking a way to hunt early, unlike some of the other ghost types.
In this video I have some great footage of why I think the Revenant is no longer a big threat.

  1. The strength of a revenant basically comes down to what map you’re own and where the ghost room is/is around with nightmare and professional allowing it to change rooms. Asylum lower hallway as is highschool hallway or gym is a nightmare, but edgefield or ridgeview is a cake walk. Corners dictate the revenant entirely. Whenever I play larger maps a rev makes me quake in my boots but any small map I give no fucks.

  2. Revs are much more deadly on larger maps, long corridors and spaces like the gymnasium or the campsite pathways can make them terrifying where they can just sprint down the corridor before you know whats happening and its too late. They're always going to be weaker on the smaller house maps where theres more furniture, twists and turns and smaller rooms you can duck around to evade them.

  3. Edit: I forgot the LOS speed buff doesn't apply to Revs so feel free to ignore this question but, if you feel like answering for other ghosts, that'd be great.

Hey Nuzzgard, did they change they make a change to the hunt mechanics? Don't the ghosts maintain the speed they've gained from line of sight until they've CHECKED where they last saw you?

  4. Revenants are the absolute skill gate ghost of this game. They're the type of ghost that will absolutely murder inexperienced players, but having the most exploitable weakness in the game makes them even bigger pushovers than Spirits, Obakes or even Shades for more experience players

  5. There’s one thing i really hate about this guy.

The fact that he has only 58.9k subs and not 100k, man is really underrated in my opinion. Nuzzgard’s voice is really soothing and calm, he is a really nice guy and I love to watch along while I’m in school when we are doing an assignment. (yes my teachers let us watch streams/videos on our phones as long as it doesn’t cause a major disruption)

  6. one of the easiest ghosts on nightmare, because you can hear the footsteps and identify it instantly. i still think it's one of the scariest ghosts on other difficulties, especially for newer players, because if you're not ready for it they can really mess you up regardless of sprint.

  7. I think the rev should get a meaty buff, i believe they move 2x speed with line of sight, i propose making it 3x speed or perhaps 2.5x speed, and i think its 0.25x speed without line of sight, bump that up to 0.5x or even 0.75x speed

  8. I wouldn’t go as far to say a rev is one of the weakest, on bigger maps where it’s not always easy to break LOS it’s still terrifying.

It has a decent advantage to kill you during a hunt over many other ghosts, you could argue that because it’s easy to identify then you have less chances to make mistakes. It’s not the worst ghost now especially since big maps are not much played in nightmare anymore.

It’s still miles above ghosts that have no hunt advantage or ways to kill you.

  9. I would not say it's the weakest; it's not the strongest, but make a wrong turn and you are not getting away. The Rev's strength is that it can punish poor play. Its weakness is that it requires poor play in the first place. However, can anyone who has done any public match in any game ever really say that poor play is rare?

  11. Me and my friends have really hard times finding any clues lately. I’m not sure if the game changes or we have (lots of) bugs but we may play for over half an hour on a small location and get one clue and that’s it…
I’m looking for some sort of information on that but I haven’t heard Nuzzgard mentioning anything close lately 😟 has anyone got the same problem?

  12. I remember when the Rev was on the top the most dangerous ghost in phasmo and now rip. When i saw how slow it was i was surprised. Even a walking player is faster than a slow Rev. Not only that but when u are on big/especially small maps u can hear it's footsteps if it's close. It's like 1 footstep every 3-4 seconds. Oof, if i could play Phas i would for sure say more but idk. Ik, i talk a lot.

  13. The problem is that the Nightmare patch pretty much indirectly nerfed the Rev, it was very dependent on having 50 seconds to hunt. Perhaps an unique strength where their hunts are longer is in order?

  14. This is why I didn't agree with Revs being an "S" tier ghost on the community tier list. They can be deadly in open spaces or when they catch you off guard, but once you exploit that weakness, they are just laughable. And yeah. The sprint has been a big help at outrunning Revs.

If anything, I'd rank them a high "B" /low "A" tier ghost. Still dangerous in many ways, but you have a greater chance at surviving compared to the higher tier ghosts. (cough) raiju (cough)

Let's face it. Revs are a meme now.

  15. I mean Rev still punishes mistakes well beyond a lot of other ghosts and on large maps they are really strong.

It is the smaller maps that merc them so their difficulty depends mostly on what map you are on and how often you mess up.

  16. I wouldn't go so far as to call them the weakest. None of the ghost's in Phas are particularly powerful to begin with especially since the addition of sprinting. simply bolting for the nearest hiding spot or safe spot as soon as your lights start flashing is already so powerful that no matter what ghost you're pitted against you won't die as long as you have a smidge of gamesense. Rev I feel is still leagues stronger than a Raiju due to the Raiju's ability being easily avoidable and it's early hunt potential being so rare. I find that the hardest ghost's now in the game are the ones that either rapidly drain sanity, like Jin's or Phantoms, or ones that have a considerable chance to early hunt, like demons and occasionally banshees. On larger maps however the power scale shifts back to the rev as breaking line of sight on highschool is considerably more difficult and during a hunt you could get caught by surprise when a rev catches sight of you from across the map. Revs are still definitely a force to be reckoned with, but only if you're a cheeky player that likes to loop the ghost or someone who enjoys playing on larger maps. On the other hand, keep an eye out for those sanity drainers and those super early hunters.
