you can stop the hunt ending (you getting back to the lobby) by clicking the Keypad when the back door is shutting

Btw In a hunt if the ghost steps in tier 3 salt it will slow the ghost down a little bit but if it is a wrath it will still not step in salt.
Maybe a Shade is tired of being shy and wants to be aggressive.
