What is the Hardest Map in Phasmophobia? – Map Tier List

Welcome back to Phasmophobia! Today we do a Map Tier List! This will be the final tier list until things change so much that we have to redo them! We’ve been playing Phasmophobia for almost 1 year and things are about to change in HUGE ways, I wanted to make sure to document all my knowledge and opinions in these three tier lists. 1. Ok – maybe now after seeing Insym and chat agree Prison is not as fun, I won't push people to play it as much. I love the prison map. I love the sounds of it.

    For me on fun level:
S: Willow, Tanglewood (with Willow slight edge)
    A: Ridgeview, Prison
B: Grafton, Bleasedale, Edgeview. Bleasedale used to be A, but recently I have had bad experiences. Either very passive ghosts, wandering ghosts where it seems like we could never find the room, or ghost glitches (like it always knew location even when silent and far away, and killed me through walls, etc)
C: High School, Asylum. High school might be mainly because the people I play with don't like it, so I only played it a few times

  2. Ive been killed by a Wraith on Willow more times than other ghost type on any other map location. Idk what it is about that house, but if its a Wraith – it has it out for me…

  3. You should ask for chat's opinion first. Because In my experience the voting seems to be more biased towards what Mr 1k hour Insym pro !! HUGE MAN !! has said.

  4. I'm pretty sure the team who carried me (a newbie) through professional asylum, high school AND prison (where I died) as S tier fun (to see a newbie in panic lel)

  5. Bleasdale is where the epic twerking happened!

I think it's a very difficult map, considering that it is, like, a single path throughout the entire house

Wherever room you wanna go to, you only have one path to choose, and if the ghost room is, say, in the living room, and a hunt starts when you're in the kitchen, you HAVE to hide in the garage

  6. Fun Tier List for me, I also play VR in Groups and Lv353:
    S: Tanglewood, Willow, Grafton
    A: Ridgeview, Edgefield, High School
    B: Asylum
C: Bleasdale, I could be just salty due to hiding spots being seemingly amazing, yet I die every time.

Untiered: Prison, Haven't played it enough.

  7. I really like your thought process but I feel like Tanglewood is a bit overhyped.

It's indeed a fun map but if you take away the nostalgia of it being the beginner map it loses a lot of what it has going for it. Otherwise it's only good for speed runs and trolling the ghost once you're pro enough (such as yourself). I remember watching a video where you kept running from closet to closet during a hunt and lived 😐 that was epic.

Now, as someone who loves the farmhouses (let's be honest they're more like cabins in the woods) I agree wholeheartedly with your Grafton placement. It's like the Tanglewood of the farmhouses but Bleasdale teeters on S tier and A tier for me. I've not really had a lot of good ghosts on that map. They're either extremely easy or super hard.

Either way, as long as one is having fun that is really all that matters. I know people will disagree with me and I have absolutely no problem with that. I enjoy all the maps with the right people (I'm too much of a dweeb to play solos lol) and I think that they all have a lot of potential. 😊

  8. I would honestly put willow at a C tier for difficulty, S-tier for fun. It’s so easy to figure out the ghost and get your objectives done so it’s not normally a difficult map, plus as you mentioned there are many options to hide in.

  9. Edgefield has real funky roams. Once had a ghost in the upstairs bedroom, does an event in the hallway. While laughing about it I tell me friend "If he starts hunting now we're screwed", and guess what he does, luckily we were at the front door so we could rush upstairs but that was wild.

  10. Grafton was never that bad before they patched the plywood invicible glitch with the furniture hiding update lol that was go to with revs when they were upstairs as it was 2 quick line of sight breaks before getting into the spot and made trolling banshees 2000% over powered cuz u could never get killed in that spot so no matter where it went u could never die so everyone else could troll it for days

  11. I personally really dislike ridgeview because I always seem to get upstairs hallway ghosts and those are the worst
Edit: I wrote the first part before getting to the part of the video talking about ridgeview and Insym 100% said what I thought. It might be patched now but when I think about this map I think of upstairs hallway ghosts with impossible orbs and impossible hunts

  12. All of the larger maps are C tier for me because of the pacing, except High School.

High School being the best (B tier) because of the simple layout. Asylum can be really confusing, looks dull and I never got anything but cell ghosts in Prison. I'm not exaggerating. It's so frequent that I start the level with searching Cell Block A and pretty much find the ghost instantly. If you get a hallway ghost in any of the larger maps, just forget it unless you have a few hours to spare. Finding bones and boards? Good luck with that, especially on Asylum.

Smaller maps are better because the good stuff is concentrated. On larger maps the majority of your time will be spent going back and forth most likely, while you try to set up everything. It's really tedious. Ghost hunts aren't even that dangerous, unless you are in the ghost room (or really close to it). The maps are so large, if a ghost hunts you can survive it without hiding by just not being there, unless it teleports close to you and starts a hunt there. Even Insym talked in some of the larger maps during hunts, out in the open, because there was no way the ghost could catch him in time.
On Professional the hunts last 50 seconds which is enough time for the ghost to get basically anywhere on the smaller maps. It can spawn in the basement and can go all the way to upstairs bedroom and still kill you. They can become kind of dummies and just roam all over the place, but it still can happen.

So yeah, bigger maps are challenging, but I personally don't believe that difficulty based on time spent is a good difficulty. It's not harder, it just takes longer. Unless it's a hallway/gym/cell ghost. They are a pain in the ass.

  13. Those 3 rooms to the right in Ridgeview were my go-to hiding spots for ages. I figured I was safer than in a closet because the ghost would have to go through 3 doors to find me 😂

  14. I really really hate playing Tanglewood. Worst map in the game hands down. Reason being that you will find the ghost room in seconds and have all the evidence in minutes. Not even fun solo. Farmhouses are the best maps imo.

  15. My favorite is Willow Streethouse. I'm new and I'm not too good at locker or closet hiding yet so I find it safer to turn a corner and hide behind furniture.

Also, it's just really, REALLY pretty. 💖

  16. For me, Asylum is the most fun map and one of the easiest as far as ghosts….usually my quickest games. It is easily my favorite. Prison, on the other hand, is the least fun and is S Tier difficult.

  17. I think if there were better furniture spots on High School to hide behind (like Willow does), it would've gotten that A ranking in fun. But as you said yourself, getting caught in the open and having to duck in a classroom without any real "safe" spots kind of sucks.
