Why DOTS Silhouettes are OPTIONAL in Phasmophobia

A followup video to my original DOTS (D.O.T.S) video for Phasmophobia. I am going to show you the easiest way to spot the new DOTS evidence in Phasmophobia without even looking at the silhouettes.

  1. NGL since other evidences also have a second way of being tested (like freezing temps are visible to the naked eye or if you take a picture of a door that´s been touched you can identify fingerprints without the glowstick/uv light) I´m absolutely on board with having the buzz sound change when a shadow walks by, just as now the notebook makes noise when the ghost is writing in it

  2. I mean whether that works or not I'm still going to watch for DOTS evidence from the safety and comfort of my van. Last night I played the update with some friends for the first time and I don't know if it's just because we were out of practice or the changes have increased the difficulty but I was terrified out of my skin for most of it.

  3. I think the sound should stay!
I don't have the best eye sight and alot of times I miss things cause they are too subtle.
and people who play this game tend to get on your case when you miss things and call you stupid for it.
having audio cues help when you cant see the visual cues!

  4. My issue is that the dots projectors themselves are extremely laggy. It doesn't make sense to put on such a crazy performance expensive lightshow when you're just listening for sounds. My frames have been extremely bad on VR on the latest patch. Game was running fine before, usually.

  5. If the ghost silhouettes are frequent enough to where you're not sitting there looking through a camera for 7 minutes, then I think the sound should be removed. But if the silhouettes are not frequent enough or become harder to spot again like they were when the new update first came out, then the sound should stay. I love Phasmophobia but I'm not sitting in a house for 30 minutes just so I can get that last piece of dots evidence.

  6. I'll have to say, risking a ghost whisper just to raise volume and listen to a buzzing sound?…No fucking thanks. I dont need more heart attacks.

  7. I think we need more DOTS projectors or they need a bigger radius. Try covering a farmhouse livingroom or basically any prison room with just two of these tiny radius projectors…

  8. can you do a video on what ghost can you out run, due to the sprint mechanic

also how close the ghost must be to kill you, cause I was running around the counter and the ghost (Spirit) grabbed me from the other side of it (long ways), nowhere close to me

  9. It does kind of take away from the point of DOTS, however, it should still be there but on a time delay. Say after two or three minutes of being active, the projector will start making the noises that play when the ghost walks through. This pairs well with the new hunting mechanic if you ask me. It won't let players just set the projector up and then do nothing, you will still have to remain active and dodge getting hunted.

  10. Coming from the perspective of a handicapped person AND an IRL ghost investigator, I'd say leave both (sound and visuals) in the game. For visually impaired people they'll need the audible cues, for the hearing impaired, they'll need the visual cues. For the rest, the non-impaired and the mentally-impaired (😆) 2x the cues means potentially higher chances of detection by said users.

Also, IRL ghost investigation gear are noticably LOUDER than the gears in-game and often have adjustable volumes.

The visual cues are about the same between game and IRL gears, with the margin favouring the IRL gears (due to constant refinements made to gears by makers from user's feedback, tis a highly competitive market populated by mostly part-time hunters on a tight budget who are HIGHLY vocal about their gears used).

I have most of the gears and tried the rest one time or another. About the only in-game gear that made me WISHED I had was the DOTS Projector. I have the EARLY version that's simply a green laser pen with a built-in adjustable prism that allows a infinitely adjustable dot matrix. BUT doesn't come with any provisions for hard-mounting onto a surface. 😭

  11. Hey Psycho! I've got a theory to test! Does items you place while on during a hunt distract the ghost? Was just curious since they added the fact that you have to turn off equipment now that the ghost can hear it going crazy during a hunt! IE: Distract the ghost to another area with equipment while you stay safe in a different area.

  12. idk if this is true but before this update the emf reader would go off when it walked through the dots, it never touched anything and the dots where fair away from anything the ghost could interact with but the emf reader would go off next to the dots machine so im pretty sure you can get dots evidence just by using the emf reader.
