  1. I didn't know it was being boycotted me and my brother stopped playing because they made the game to hard to play like the ghosts suddenly got 10x harder than need be

  2. They are small group with "small" community and most people dont even care about those stuff. Just looking at CJ makes you realise some things, but its not mine to judge.

As for phasmo i played it for 20-30 hours and it became boring and stale, every run is same just with a different ghost and public lobby is filled with all kind of idiots and hackers.

  3. I always can't stand boycotts like this. The people calling for it are the same ones who are probably seeing every MCU film, every big blockbuster release, buying every Activision game despite all the shit that goes on with those.

People and the companies involved in those realms have done far worse and most don't bat an eye. It seems everyone already forgave Activision for the Cosby room shit. At least I haven't seen it brought up again.

It's just clout, and it's a lot easier to try to convince people to boycott something like Phasmaphobia as opposed to the next MCU film or Overwatch 2. Also it's a small team so these people feel they have the power to pressure said team.

I'm not defending the guy in the Discord, but the clout chasing by announcing a boycott is just annoying.

  4. Obviously people are going to feel differently about this, because we're all humans with different lived experiences. Some people feel that they can no longer trust Kinetic to foster a safe community with the way they handled it and choose to stay away from the community, and some feel like boycotting a product you already purchased doesn't accomplish much. Personally, I'm glad that action was finally taken and feel they could've handled it MUCH better, but I am in no place to tell anybody what to do over a product they purchased with their own money. Plus I stopped playing back in 2021 because I got bored of the game, so there's really nothing for me to boycott anyway.

  5. I honestly don’t care if it’s a good game I’m not gonna not play it because of something stupid there are bad things people do and most just turn a blind eye if they are famous or something

  6. Mixed feelings to be honest. On one hand I do agree that they need to do more about this situation and take action against all parties that are at fault here. At the same time though I think boycotting something you already bought doesn’t really accomplish much. Either way I hope they do more about this

  7. This is certainly gonna make me keep a much closer eye on the dev team from now on… So some trust was certainly lost…
But idk about boycotting the game entirely. It's bad, yes. Should never have happened the way it did, in my opinion, could have been handled much better, yes. But, also… This is a really small team, and idk how much experience they have, or even how old the team members are but like…
People make mistakes sometimes. If CJ or anyone else from the dev team has anything like this go on again… Then yes, I guess it's fair to stop playing the game just because of this in order to "protest" and make your voice heard or whatever. But as of now I can't tell if it was a true mistake and just handled really badly, or if there is actually a bigger problem going on here…
(and if there is I'm not even sure what the "bigger problem" would be, if I'm honest.)
I'ma be keeping my eye on this and watching for more "drama", for sure, but, I'ma prolly still be playing phasmo while I wait for more news.
And, if there ain't ever more news, then I'ma just keep playing phasmo.

(I think it's kinda silly to stop playing a game you like just cuz you don't like the team who made it anyway, you can like the art and not like the artist, unless if it's legit a bad game or they ruined it somehow with an update and broke it, but I enjoy phasmo and I've never had a bad experience while playing. As long as the devs prove to be respectable people in the future, I will be more than happy to continue to support their game. And since as far as I was aware before this they seemed nice enough.. I'ma try and give them the benefit of the doubt, regardless of my cynical nature.)

Here's me hoping this is a one time thing and there won't be any more "issues" regarding this and how the team handles things like it in the future. (I've been disappointed by so many game devs, I just wanna try and hold out some "possibly-toxicly-positive hope" for this one… I'm sure it'll be fine.)

  8. Idk man, seems clout chasey and over the top. The dev team is awesome, the situation doesn't seem at all serious to me. And well, a boycott seems like the typical snowflake reaction to anything that pushes your buttons I don't feel like there actually is a boycott
