Hiya dusk, how's it goin? And personally i think that the summoning circle could be cool. Depends on how they implement it.
Yea there needs to be massive risks. If sanity has hallucinations and other negative gameplay effects. Sanity as it stands isn't a real cost
I do miss the crazy glitched voodoo physics and watching people come up with pet theories as to what it meant. I know the first time I threw it on the floor and it "sprinted" over to a specific door I thought, "This must mean something!" (it did not).

1:02 Actually its shuddering from the pins being stuck into it. Each pin represents another interaction you can force. From what i’ve been seeing it takes its toll on sanity and therefore makes the ghost more hostile.

I think for the summoning circle there should be a requirement for it to appear like your sanity being under 25% or having to find certain items in cabinets and drawers to “make the circle.”
I feel like people just want this game to be more complicated than it needs to be. If you want to play the game as if you have no life, they can make Nightmare mode fit that. Other than that, most people play this game to have fun with their friends, not challenge themselves to complete a game rigged against them. You people who want this game to be more complicated than it needs to be are going to kill it because the rest of the people who play the game don't want what the no life people do. This is exactly what happened to Destiny. Bungie did nothing but listen to their no life players who wanted the game to be so hard they could barely complete a raid, then everyone left because the people who play for fun couldn't accomplish anything anymore. Tired of no life gamers ruining good games

I do hope there is a sanity sacrifice, that will totally be fine with these additions. I think the summoning circle and the voodoo doll should cycle at random with the house, maybe whoever lives there did a summoning. Not us setting it up. Encourages there being a chance to make things easier for us yet not assured unless they allowed us to increase or decrease the likelihood of these encounters during investigations.
The voodoo doll bug was funny because it had some people think that it would lead you to the ghost room

Personally I'd like it if the summoning circle caused possession of one of the members, which will cause a massive drop in sanity.
I think the summon circle is gonna be way too op unless they add a major repercussion to using it, maybe more than a sanity tank. My first thought was instant hunt regardless of sanity (which would make sense), and maybe drain sanity to 0 and even block sanity from being restored for the rest of the mission. But even then you could work around that. It would largely depend on how they implement it though.
As for the doll, I think a sanity drain and limited number of uses would be just fine, but again we’ll have to see how it all works in practice.
I don't know about making it too easy if anything summoning a ghost that is actively hunting seems like little more than an efficient way to commit suicide. Unless the circle somehow prevents hunts, that would be weird and kind of broken.
Imagine if the summoning circle increased the hunt duration.
I think if they added a violent reaction to the doll, like one of the pins coming off and jabbing the player's hand, would be interesting as well, both as additional content and a potential identifier of ghost types
I hope the summoning circle comes with at MINIMUM a chance to just get insta hunted or shit maybe even a chain hunt

It's kind of hilarious that literally yesterday I suggested adding a summoning ritual/summoning circle to the game on Insyms hour ghost video and now they announce they're adding one today LMFAO. Like I know it's a coincidence, but I can't help but feel happy af like they used my idea.
If you feel up to it, find my comment. My suggestion went on to say that using the Summoning Circle drained sanity and triggered a new, instant, super hunt. So you get the photo but you have to survive a super long, dangerous hunt to get out with it
I'd prefer the catch, if any, to be something of a risk, like, a possible kill of a player, sanity drain just seems like an overused mechanic, from events and interactions to ghost events, with some of the ghosts play a bigger role on your sanity – unless the devs decide the circle works like a smudge stick but instead of making the ghost passive, the circle is a way to stop the ghost from wandering
See im fine with all this, however, It does need to go further than sanity drain. My suggestion is these 2 new mechanics should have a chance to backfire entirely (maybe even based on ghost type) perhaps a 25% chance to just start a hunt from the circle or the voodoo doll could trigger the ghosts special mechanics if it has one and also give a greater chance for the ghost to change rooms (ontop of the sanity drain so it wouldnt be as exploitable on some maps)
Think people have to keep in mind. These videos are from what the Devs are testing a new mechanic, while also using dev tools. So the mechanic shown in the video might be set at 100% but when its released might be a variable. Also we don't see any consequence of using said mechanics in the video. at least for the summoning circle, that looks like a triggered hunt event. Imagine if you didn't realize that ghost was a Rev and you just triggered a hunt right on top of yourself.
Can only be used DURING a hunt. Prevents ghost from killing during THAT hunt. Candles burn out ( one time use)unless in circle. Additional option of always kills person who summons when more than 1 is present
I definitely see the pins being pushed in as the head bobs. Perhaps each time that's a sanity drain until you get what your looking for. As far as the circle, it sure looks like it caused a hunt! I'm excited – looks cool >:)
maybe way too easy for 'pro' players. All of the people I know just skip ghost picture bc it isnt worth it. the harder they make the game in an entirety, the less and less I see people playing it. If you want to increase the player base, more things like the circle for ghost pictures will make it more fun and turning it into a type of mechanic is how you solve it without having to rework the entire hunt process. before it was run away from the ghost and get a pic. then the speed went up so it was harder. most players just stopped going for it. I could also see more sub options related to difficulty being a benefit for both average players and 'pro' players. I.E. no waluigi boards, option to break sanity TV, ghost hunt duration/speed, etc.
I never care when games add things to make it easier. These look like optional things, if you don't want to use them, then don't. Same with Sanity Pills. You could consider them making the game easier but it's up to you to use or not use them.

For a man who has run-in against too many shy ghosts, the summoning circle is a welcomed change.
Maybe they make it that on a map there is a chance to either have a voodoo doll, a ouija board OR a summoning circle. So you only have the chance of getting one of the very helpful items and they're nothing you can just bring to an investigation yourself. This would probably also make sense lorewise, because you'd have multiple ways the ghost was originally summed to this place by the ppl that lived there.
Every time you use the doll it drops sanity by 10%, the summoning circle will spawn the ghost and lock the door making a hunt that last longer than normal: these would be perfect so it’s not as easy
these funky items and maps are cool on a kind of superficial level, but all i want is for distinct ghost behaviours to come back. although it may not be feasible given how many ghosts there are now

i think this is a great addition to the game but i am almost certain it will make the game even more unplayable for players like me and my friends…
the current sanity drain for example and the fact that the game is now all about hunts and obviously constantly diying is making the game really unlikeable for us.
we would much rather enjoy the investigation part of the game instead of being hunted and killed constantly.

I saw in another video someone translated the runes around the summoning circle and it translated to "sacrifice your sanity". Not sure how accurate that is but imagine it draining all of your sanity and starting a hunt!
Considering I can’t ever get a picture of the ghost anymore, the summoning circle would help. Voodoo doll, meh, but it would be cool to scare myself making it do something lol but yeah, make it have strong sanity drains. They could add new equipment so we have to do the summoning circle like with black chalk and summoning candles. That would help even it out with sanity drains.
why put nordic runes on this circle? im sick of how ppl use runes as if they are something evil fk off
