The Developers Brought Back the OLD Spirit Box – Phasmophobia

Welcome back to Phasmophobia! In the last update the developers changed the voice recognition system which made it a lot more strict. This meant that you could no longer ask any silly questions such as “are you french”. But in the latest update they finally brought this back! You can now set your voice recognition back to the old system and ask all the stupid questions you want! I will definitely be using this instead of the new system! Let me know what you think!

  1. I have a strong accent so I have problems with it recognizing what I say, but if I set it to my original language it doesn't recognize me at all, so I was stuck sounding like a moron when I play, glad it's back.

  2. I was hoping "old spirit box" meant the old voices as well. I think the harsh robotic voice is actually way more unsettling than the cliche "spoopy whispers"

  3. Being a Linux user I really hope they keep both systems in the game, cause we don't have access to Cortana…thankfully lol

As for things like "Are You French?" I've had no trouble asking the ghosts these off-questions at all, I still get responses just fine, so maybe it's due to accent recognition, or in this case mis-recognition?

  4. Audio breaking by floor change ?
Sounds more like the sound is not localized well in the 3D space if it makes sense ?
(Sorry i'm no coding nerd so i lack wording.)
But should be easy to fix i guess if they change the play sound execution of the ghost to the same event type as throwing a object as player,
Then the direction of the sound should always be as reliable as that sound and won't be dependend on changing floors.
(Also would add to the immersion to hear the ghost walk above or bellow you.)

Like i said i don't know any coding this is purely on my interpretation of my infant footsteps knowledge into coding anything,
Maybe someone else can confirm or deny if my rambling is correct in any possibility ?

  5. "I get so many high priestess cards"

Man, I love messing with cursed items. Every time it's Tarot cards, I immediately starting pull them. And I've never had a high priestess, but I've had 4 hanged man's in a row. The number of times I've entered the house, and in 15 seconds I go "I'm dead" is way too damn high

  6. man i wish they added back (with a toggleable option) the old spirit box voices , i'm not english native and with the new voices (from CJ i believe) all i hear are incomprehensive whispers 🙁 . the actual voice feels like forced to listen to bad ASMR

  7. Glad they added the option, not just for the meme questions, but also the more responsive 'x' on the display showing that it "recognized" you. Though, I am going to miss Psycho's hilarious attempts at doing a British accent in order to get it to register his voice. "Wher AH yee?"

  8. I miss when the answer the ghost gave showed up on the spirit box screen. Can barely understand what the ghosts are saying, visual confirmation would be awesome.

  9. I actually needed this change. English is not my native language, however, I would say I'm rather fluent and the current Spirit Box barely picks up my voice even though I'm yelling into the microphone.

  10. I have to say that the new voice recognition can actually understand me, unlike the old one, where I had trouble with the ouija board, because the game often couldn't understand me. I have a "heavy" German accent btw.
