The Obake has a Hidden Ability? – Phasmophobia

In this video we talk more about the Obake! The new Shapeshifting ghost in Phasmophobia. They leave a special type of evidence that you can use to identify them. They also have a hidden ability to that can make their fingerprints disappear faster than any other ghost. I do think this ghost would be much cooler if there was some form of shapeshifting. What do you think? Much love and see you during the streams 😀

  1. Instead of literal shapeshifting, I think they could implement a "possession" mechanic. If a player angers the Obake, or fails a question, the Obake possesses the player. Outside hunts, the ghost follows the possessed player, staying very close by and interacting with the environment. During the hunt, the player loses control of their character, and is forced to sprint into the nearest visible player, killing the victim & themselves.

On singleplayer, idk maybe you get a speed debuff when it possesses you

  2. Any ideas on how to get the game to run better? I used to run it on high graphics and full screen about a year ago and it would run fine, but now it runs at 10fps when its minimized.

  3. guys i have a question. idk if somethings wrong with my game but my ghost physical forms aren't showing during a hunt. every time i get twins they are a see through silhouette during hunts and ghost events and every time i get a phantom and obake the ghost is fully invisible and all you hear is it running at you but i cant physically see it even if its just a couple of feet away. are these features in the game or do i need to fix my files? i have a vid of me dying on a straight away to an invincible ghost if anyone wnats to see on discord or anything

  4. The Obake ability should be it mimics other ghost abilities and its random, so like you get the same evidence for it. However, it can have the abilities of a Demon or something or the twins ability to really throw you off. Then it can switch abilities mid game or something!!!!

  5. 17:53 I play some spooky ambiance to add to the video in the background. Right when you see the bear, the music went from near-silent to noticeably louder with a swell at the beginning of the transition. It was so perfect.

  6. It'd be a very cool idea though, if the ghost could manifest posing as a player. It's definitely something I'd expect from the Obake and the Phantom, though perhaps a few other ghosts could make use of it, too. Imagine that the Phasmo devs were to record themselves walking around the map, and saving those records as sets of paths. Then, certain ghosts could have an event where they pick a path whose origin point is out of view of the players and it manifests as a player, walking along the path (with perhaps a bit of randomness to make the path look unique), but as an added trick (or, 'addertje onder het gras') in line with the journal entry of the Obake especially, touching this 'fake player' could trigger a hunt.

It'd definitely require a lot more careful communication between teams, and keeping track of who is where, and if it is a trait that only a few ghosts can exhibit, then it could also be used on nightmare mode to help identify certain ghosts.

Edit: perhaps possession could work for certain ghosts, too, such as a Demon or an Oni, where they temporarily take control of a player and prevent them from communicating with their team.

Edit 2: that makes me think actually, how about a ghost that has a chance to mute or otherwise paralyze a player? You think you're talking in proximity or over the radio but you're not making a noise. It'd be a gimmick for multiplayer mostly but perhaps the spirit box could be used on single player to detect such mutes, which would be a nice second effect to it, I think. So many ideas!
