The Parabolic Microphone Works Now!? – Phasmophobia Patch Notes v0.25.5

The buffed Parabolic Microphone finally works completely without bugs! I am excited to test the buffed paramic tomorrow! I really hope it will allow us to use a different item to detect the ghost room. Let me know what you think of the recent Phasmophobia changes! And let me know what tools you use to detect the ghost room! Much love and see you during the streams! 😀

The #phasmophobia patch notes for v0.25.5:
Fixes
1. Fixed a bug where several objects couldn’t be seen by the smooth VR recording camera.
2. Fixed several sounds that could not be heard by the parabolic microphone. There are still some missing sounds such as some ghost sounds that won’t get read yet.
3. Fixed a bug where some areas on maps had a constant sound value on the parabolic and sound sensor that would slowly raise over time.
4. Fixed a bug where ambient sounds were not playing in their correct locations on several maps.
5. Potential fix for the ghost sometimes checking the floor below the player it is searching for.
6. Fixed a bug where some objects could still be interacted with by the ghost if they were picked up near the ghost and taken to another location.
Changes
1. Improved how some sound values get display on the parabolic and sound sensor monitor to make them more realistic.

  1. Kinda sad to say, I have more or less stopped using items to find where the ghost hunts. It's easier to just find items knocked over, doors opened, things on the floor, etc etc. Or straight up the sound of footsteps.

Sucks on the larger maps though. They really need an indicator of what general area the room is in, and that's what the paramic should be there for. Hope it gets fixed.

  2. For finding the ghost, I stick to thermo+spirit box while simply looking around and using my ears for clues. Nothing fancy. On bigger maps, I pretty much room sweep like a zombie hoping I hear a phone.

  3. I bring a thermometer and spirit box. On my way to the breaker I continually ask the spirit box questions. Once the breaker is pressed I go from room to room testing spirit box until it's warm enough. Then I go to the remaining rooms with the thermometer. If I've still not found the room I recheck the rooms I only used a spirit box in

  4. For me the best tracking item is the sound sensor combined with some motion sensors later. The motion sensors for finding out specifically what room the ghost is in, "supposing i didn't figure it out all ready" and the sound sensors for getting a general idea without having to check every single room in every single area of the building. The parabolic mic might replace the sound sensors if its good enough though.

With enough people its thermometer/spirit box all the way though.

  5. Wow! The para mic is DEFINITELY the favourite child lol. I’m excited for the new gameplay, and testing on this stuff. As for the item I use to track the ghost, I just use my ears! Have a good one Insym!

  6. I still use thermo, but before that I used EMF (i didnt know how to read the thermo lol). I haven't played on the Beta so when all of this comes out I'll have to figure out how to locate the room another way I guess lol

  7. Got news if you click the link in the phasmophobia discord something coming in the next update it says they are fixing photos collecting random evidence that's going to make fingies photos harder

  8. i got to try out the parabolic microphone yesterday , found the room in asylum pretty easily, my team split and i was by myself, just using the parabolic mic and happened to walk by the room it was in. never thought it helped before, but i may use it often if i get a big map again.

  9. Generally, I use a mix of paramic and thermo. I use the paramic to narrow down the number of rooms the ghost could be in while the building is heating up on professional, and use the thermo to confirm which it is

  10. I‘m actually just using my ears for the first part, taking a photo and UV light or a book. Box is working for my friends very well, but only when it‘s a Box ghost that‘s why sometimes I tried the EMF

  11. I have used paramic a couple of times after updates and never really liked it much. Since I am playing on small maps with a friend, we can mostly hear where it is and use thermo afterwards to confirm.

  12. How about make parabolic mic hear sounds that arent normally possible example oin professional level the parabolix mic could be used to find out the ghost name it would maeke parabolic mic nesesecity but u would need other tools to find the ghost room.

  13. I am not at professional, so thermo still. But tbh it's mostly just confirming. Your ears are still one of the best tools you have, and probably why the paramic will still struggle somewhat at getting a usage over thermo, you want a diversity of tools to cover many options, rather than carry something another tool does.

  14. We use termo usually (EMF is not so usable), but on bigger maps we are starting to use sound sensors – on the prison map we found the ghost many times in the reception/hallway part by using the sound sensor 😀

  15. What if they added a feature that allowed for the candle to flicker when the ghost passes the player og goes through the player, independent of the ghosts actions. In this way the candle can detect a ghost as well.

  16. Paramic idea:
Muffles all sounds other than what the mic hears.
Make some extra sounds at extremely low volumes that would be hard to hear with your ears. Like scraping, dragging steps (not wraith), etc.

Use paramic to be able to track ghosts' walking path for combination with crucifix.

  17. Parabolic right now seems to always show 0, with veeeery little variation even when standing incredibly close to the ghost room and pointing the mic directly at it. This item has so much potential, but it seems to be too unrealiable. I really hope Dknighter ends up making it more useful, it's better for sure, but still kinda meh.

  18. I watched your latest stream of the paramic. I think initially that the Para is good the way it is. Any better improvements of that item will defeat the purpose of the temp tweaks and thermo usage. In other words, we don't want an item that super cheeses finding the ghost with pin point accuracy, and technically the ghost already does a great job at giving itself away. This is why I play with 4 horror YouTube sou videos for sound disruption at a perfect volume for background noise. The Para is a hard item to judge because it boils down to your expectations of it. I think how you intend to use it makes a huge difference in concluded opinion. The game says using headphones for best player experience and good headphones does defeat the Para purpose but for someone not using headphones, when a sound is heard, if the Para doesn't pick up a reading in the direction your facing/ walking, then it can be used to save time from walking in the wrong direction for non headset sound nerf players cannot sense sound direction on a very large map. It sucks to intentionally sound nerf your own game with YouTube videos as a headset user that's for sure🤣. The game needs an aspect where ghost chooses to not stay in its favorite room and knowing where it is being required in order to get to smudge the ghost so it can't hunt, and the Para be used to detect ghost sound that isn't heavily frequent but cannot be heard. Kinda like how the spirit box works. Who knows, Para might be an item that won't shine until a harder difficulty comes out
