The shade doesn't seem shy at all in my experience, I was in its room with two others in prison and it kept back to back hunting 5 times and eventually I died and the other two ran away. It seemed very territorial, somehow it was a shade
Woo boii do I have a bad experience with Shades lol, alone seems like a pretty odd concept to them.. Cus setting one foot into the ghost's room on Asylum while my pal was right behind me was enough to get locked in three times, get a ghost encounter and prevent a hunt within like 30 seconds xD
Just a tip. If you must be huddled very tightly together to stop the shade hunting, you also must be in the same room or the game thinks your in different rooms and the ghost will hunt. Finally the ghost will chain hunt no matter what at extremely low sanity group or not.
I had a VERY wack Shade last night. Although me and my friend were together the entire time, it hunted 3 times in about 1 minute. It just kept starting hunts, one after another. We hadnt said it's name or anything. It was VERY active and very aggressive even though my friend and I stuck together, because we're both weenies.
One of my first few games of Phasmo (maybe even my very first?), I had a shade in the foyer-bathroom area of one of the small houses. (I think Tanglewood. The one with the stairs right by the door) Got the EMF 5pretty much right away, soon as I turned towards the bathroom, and I had ghost writing a little later. The area was horrible for ghost orbs: way too bright even with all of the lights off and doors closed. It was very active: flicking lights, tossing paintings and stuff… I'd already ruled out fingerprints, and given that it was being very active (opposite of what I expected a shade to be) I didn't go with shade. Figured it was just being stubborn on spirit box.
You literally make beginning players' life easier, since you explain it in detail in 60 seconds, meaning I can pull this video up as I'm playing if I'm unsure.
So me and my 3 other friends played high school. We were all grouped together, hasn't found the ghost room yet. It start hunting we decided to hide together. Someone forgot to close the door and the shade came to kill one of us. It was funny
I think it's also important to note for beginners that Shades are quite active and somewhat aggressive when you play in solo. I got a shade once. the activity shot up to 10 the moment I stepped in the house and I thought it was a Banshee since Banshees stalk their victims (and they can hunt at any given sanity percentage). Boy was I suprised when all the evidence led to Shade.
The shade is a lot, but not shy. I never had a shade actually behaving like the playbook tells. Weve mistaken a shade with a oni twice after not finding enough evidence.

I found that Shades are super aggressive and love to hunt a lot, basically cosplaying as demons.
