Was it an Onryo? It hunted as soon as the firelight turned off.
It happens after an event it just stays there for at least a few seconds. If the hunt starts it will start it from the place it is standing in this case in the middle of the hiding spot. But I’ve noticed that the ghost sometimes roams into a hiding spot too. So be careful and listen where the ghost spawns if you decide to use a hiding spot in the ghost room. 😄
